New Video This Weekend (I Think)

Hello Patrons,

I think I can have a new video uploaded this weekend. Its all over the place... Kind of a vlog, behind the scenes, beautiful lightning hang but there's also a dog, snake and lots of chaser cameos. I finally got to put my new Sony A9 global shutter camera to work. Here are som...

Is it a Tornado, Landspout, Gustnado or Burrito?

Happy Friday Patrons,

Last night's chat was a lot of fun. One particularly extra fun topic was the KS lightning storm / landspout event on June 18th. Multiple dust vortexes spun up with characteristics of both landspouts and gustnadoes. Perhaps hybrids. So what exactly were they and how ...

Live Chat Tomorrow 8pm CT

Good evening Patrons!

Hurricane Beryl tore down our Magnolia tree. The good news is that it just missed our house. The power just came back on and the trees have been cleared. Let’s chat!

I’ll ping you guys again tomorrow evening 20 minutes or so prior. If you got any questions...

Hurricane Beryl in TX

Good morning Patrons,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Current CAMS are resolving the eye wall striking around Corpus Christi to Rockport TX (again) Monday morning around 4-7AM ***THIS COULD CHANGE.

The HRRR appears to be resolving a lower end storm while the...

Storm Chase - July 1st

Good Afternoon Patrons,

Today I’ll be targeting Nebraska for possible burritos. It’s currently looking like the best STPs (Significant Tornado Parameters) are around 7-9 PM, so just a little heads up for those around Kearny to Lincoln. If storms get messy, I might bail early and try f...

Storm Chase - June 28

Good Morning Patrons,

In the wake of ongoing storms there’s lots of uncertainty regarding this evening’s target. On the right shoulder the NAM consistently blows up storms in Kansas saying “Do it!” On the left shoulder, the HRRR foreseeing a cap bust whispers “Go home and save yo...

Good morning Patrons,

Today I’ll likely be targeting SW Nebraska vicinity under a formidable cap. SPC is using bold wording here… “isolated supercells should develop… “

Storm Chase June 15

Morning Patrons,

It appears I’ll be targeting somewhere in eastern Nebraska today. My mesoanalysis lines up well with the SPC’s, however I wasn’t able to zero in a localized target. Current plan is to get near Lincoln and then try to chisel the target down. As of now the HRRR hints ...

6 - Day Supercell Forecast & Productivity Report

Happy Friday Patrons,

For the last several days I’ve been drooling over chase potential tomorrow in Nebraska, however guidance has rained on that parade. The HRRR, the NAM and the SPC are saying “scattered unorganized storms but a supercell cannot be ruled out.” Hardly a Pilger Twin...

Power lines are usually annoying, however I love how these summon a Jurassic Park vibe. Getchyo high res digital file in the attachments below. Use it as a screen saver, print it and hang it, or use it as parakeet tray paper.

THE LONG TERM FORECAST is calling me up.

Storm Chase June 3

Howdy Patrons,

Today I’m blasting 5 mph over the speed limits to the 5% Target. Didn’t have time to forecast properly so I’m leaning heavy into the SPCs wording of a possible strong tornado and old runs of the HRRR that resolved isolated supercells in the target.

CNN, 8 Day Forecast & the Deadly Valley View TX Tornado

Good Afternoon Patrons,

Tomorrow, CNN premieres their “Violent Earth” series with a small boatload of my tornado and lightning footage. Judging by the trailer, it looks to be high quality, perhaps competing with BBC and NatGeo.

15% Sig Tor Storm Chase - May 25

She rarely makes it easy, that Mother Nature. According to my HRRR mesoanalysis… TX tails is the high percentage guarantee of daytime storms. Biggest Caveat is much higher potential of bottlenecking conga lines… never a fun thing.

May 23 Storm Chase - Heads, Tails or Wild Card?

Morning Chasers,

Storms in the TX Hill Country are consuming tornado parameters along the dryline. To what degree? Not certain. The HRRR appears to be trending toward less storm intensity and coverage along the dry line each run (if I'm seeing it right) while the Nam Nest blows up the dr...

Storm Chase May 20 & yesterdays tornado

Good morning Chasers

No time for a proper forecast so I’m going to roll with the SPC and the CAMS again today. If I leave in 30, I might get to Colorado in time for the possible supercells.

Storm Chase May 19

Good afternoon Patrons,

The Convective Allowing Models (CAMS) have been consistently resolving a strong outflow dominant windstorm in Kansas with a possible discrete supercell in Oklahoma. I’m taking the latter bait hook, line and sinker.

I'm calling it a "tornad" because it was over before you could shout "Tornado!" This was in Spearman Texas.
