Good morning Patrons,
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Current CAMS are resolving the eye wall striking around Corpus Christi to Rockport TX (again) Monday morning around 4-7AM ***THIS COULD CHANGE.
The HRRR appears to be resolving a lower end storm while the NAM NEST buys the storm a little more time in the Gulf to intensify to perhaps a Cat2 or perhaps even a Cat3.

There are cases where storms have exploded into Cat5s in 24 hours, so Beryl definitely deserves respect.
15” of localized rainfall may be possible. Beryl is projected to keep on trucking, so hopefully this will limit excessive rainfall in Texas.

SURF REPORT:
Strong onshore winds to the right of Beryl will create very choppy (bad) surf conditions in my local breaks around Galveston. For clean waves in OFFshore winds you want to be on the left side of this storm, however the angle of the coast doesn’t encourage a surf trip down to Brownsville TX. Long story short, I think surf conditions are hosed here. Perhaps west coast Florida will get a little ground swell from Beryl.
I generally find hurricanes incredible, but not beautiful… rather depressing. My interest in chasing them would be to witness the stadium effect inside the eye. If Beryl presents this opportunity in the daylight, I might go after it. As of now I’m likely going to be focused on the outerband tornado risk. It’s a needle in a haystack kinda chase, but it won’t be another 12 hour commute.
Stay safe chasers and Texans.
