I hope all the non-slackers who chased yesterday are okay. I caught wind that two chasers were impacted by tornadoes in Iowa but were not injured. I'm feeling some regret burn for not being there, however it was the right call factoring in my exhaustion. It was good to hear that fellow Patrons Scott Currans and Mike Olbinski finally figured out how to chase tornadoes yesterday. Well done guys. You're growing up :D
Today I found the time to do a proper forecast in TX (Didn't really dig into Arkansas).
If your brain isn't working 100%, consider taking a day off so that you can live to regret it the rest of the year.

This year just happens to be early and fierce for areas in Tornado Alley that don’t usually have such destructive outcomes. We have so much sprawling farmland that it is rare for so many F3+ tornadoes to hit populated areas. Having lived in NE/IA my entire life, historically, June-July were the months to see tornadoes. Not anymore. Then again, I’m in my 60s.

2024-05-23 01:08:22 +0000 UTCBusted this one. Was sitting between I20 and US180 on US183 and watched a gray, mucky mess for a time. It kept trying to do something but the system never got server warned. Dropped down to Rising Star as the storm in Cross Plains went tornado warned, stayed with it for a couple of hours but could never see anything. It stayed tornado warned off and on until it got to I35 at least. Will try again in the morning, maybe along the Red River in OK. Hope you were those storms near Abilene Hank.
