Next Video Sneaks & Impaled Shingles

Above might be the final thumbnail of my next video that I’m hoping to upload tonight or tomorrow. Let’s explore what we should title it?

It’s a very short video (2:30) focusing on the horses that are impacted. But there are other interesting things you might miss if not watching very carefully.

Above is the initial touchdowns of the Windthorst TX tornado/es from several days ago. Watch for the third tiny vapor vortex zipping across the field. This little sucker could poke the eyes of an unsuspecting observer with vegetation fragments and possibly knock ‘em on their butts.

Also watch for the sudden explosive debris on these “weak” vortices above.

The above silhouetted tornado will pass meters in front of my location. Frequent positive bolts were crashing behind me as the horses belt out creepy whinnies of fear.

Your attention will likely be fixed on the horses running from tin panels and shed walls flying through the air, but be sure to rewind and watch the 6-10 foot trees suddenly explode across the road. Imagine what this likely EF1 would do to your body if struck by those trees…

The horses do not appear to sustain any serious injuries as most of the large debris misses them. I get a little emotional in the moment as the horses escape and I want this video to advertise victory for the horses. I personally avoid videos in which an animal is advertised as harmed, and so I’d like to hint to like-minded viewers of a happy ending.

So how about…

Horses Hit by Tornado & Escape

“Survive” still might imply injury and so I think I want to avoid that word.

LONG TERM FORECAST:

I would have liked to be in west TX today as potential tail end supercells track along a boundary. We got hit by another windstorm on Tuesday that tore down more limbs littering our yard. I found shingles impaled in our trees. After inspecting with the drone, I found our roof is still sound, but my neighbors roof, not so much.

I’m keeping an eye on Arkansas tomorrow. The following week isn’t screaming CHASE to me, however Saturday in Colorado, Sunday in the Dakotas, NE & KS deserve attention.

Monday currently looks like a day off followed by a strong line of storms on Tuesday in MN, IO and south. After this event, ridging might extinguish storms through at least Friday the 7th…

All this according to the last GFS run.

Corny is gold to me.

Pecos Hank

Went out earlier today, got caught behind some huge piece of equipment on US180, East on my way to Snyder for over an hour. Gave up on getting to Snyder and dropped back down to late to catch anything along the frontal line and headed home from there. Hope someone was on that storm that kicked up in Midland that was tornado warned.

Mike Castles

I know it's too late since I got the YouTube notification already, but here goes. Tornado seeks horses but, the horses say neigh! Too corny? 😁

Jimmy Hewett

Awe that’s awesome! I already uploaded but might have to change the title. Cheers Isaac!

Lol

Everyday not chased in 2024 is a missed opportunity. 😂 hope to get some hang time with you soon.

Pecos Hank

Ever grateful Kenny.

I saw a tractor that had scooped up cow corpses after Coleridge. Grim stuff these storms leave behind.

Sometimes I think the animals deal with storms better than us. Xox Wendy.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be a wild animal in a storm, without the relative luxury of safe shelter or easy escape, or the ability to comprehend the magnitude of it all. It's hard enough for us humans. Am sure your video will be beautiful and compassionate and moving. You're a genuinely good soul, and it reflects in everything you do.

Wendy Jay

I don’t even like to think about the hundreds of animals that perished in the Pilger, Nebraska twin tornadoes on 6/16/2014 and the multiple tornadoes that struck Coleridge, Laurel and other areas in northeast Nebraska the following day. There was a stock cow operation east of Pilger where so many cows perished, they had to be buried in huge pits in the ground. There were also mass cattle burial pits on farms near Coleridge. 😭🐄🌪️💔

Brenda

Your passion is so admirable. God Bless you and yours.

Hehrfarms1

Amazing captures, I always feel bad seeing animals out in the storms. Car is in the shop getting fixed so I’m out of commission for a few days. Hoping I don’t miss anything too crazy.

Celton

"Foaling Around with Nado" or something on those lines

Cameron Cotton

Yeah, I think I'll roll with that. "Drama llamas" :D

Pecos Hank

Beautiful catches Hank! Hope the horses are okay. As for the title, I’m thinking “Rare Horse Tornado Intercept”. Glad you guys are safe in Houston and good luck in June!

Isaac Heinold Storm Chasing

I'm with you on videos that even hint of injury/death/cruelty to animals. I like your title "Horses Escape Tornado"! However... HorseNado is on the table for me! 😜

Tornado Ali

"Horses Hit by Tornado & Escape" is good, and should please the drama llama's wanting dramatic moments, and the more humane folks who would be horrified when animals are harmed by anything, even Mother Nature. Thanks for the tips of what else to look for!
