The photo was real.

The "almost too good to be real" photo was taken with a handheld iPhone 14 Pro and not enhanced afterwards.
As some of you guessed, it's Emerald Lake in Canada.

Interesting heat lamp

A look at an interesting heat lamp with various safety features.  This could have possible uses for a custom localised infrared heat source for either technical applications or for a personal warmth device in a draughty garage or workshop which is impractical to heat by conventional means. A proper repair video

This is a proper full repair video.  None of that shallow short video crap that I've been making too much of recently.

The harsh reality of YouTube is that the short videos tend to be more popular as most people want to cram as many videos into a viewing session as possible due to the ...

And Temu have now pulled that floodlight too!

I'm almost feeling uncomfortable.    Temu must be monitoring my videos and have maybe worked out which account is mine.  The LED floodlight has just been pulled from their site.

Toys returned by the authorities

My toys have been returned by the "authorities".  It's time to go HIJACK some planes.

For those who don't know, I took these on as hand luggage for safety reasons due to the lithium cells inside, and they were seized as being potential weapons.

Inside a flickery Luxa pyramid clone

Having already looked at the well built Luxa unit, I thought it would be good to open a clone I've had for a while and take a look at its construction.

The clone has always flickered as it rotates, so I was expecting the slip ring assembly to be basic.   But it's actually pretty w...

More scam de-icers have arrived

Now with exciting blinky LED feature.  The packaging with these ones is the full-on scam packaging.  The round one is so cheap that it will be the biggest earner.

I may jump this video in the queue to make as many people aware of the scam as possible.

Unusual circuit for monitoring roller pressure

This is one of those videos that will almost certainly get very low views because it is incredibly niche and will only appeal to a small audience.

It's a custom PCB specific to a PCB panel cleaning machine where scotchbrite rollers remove oxides from the copper layer prior to photoresist be...

3D morphing stars in a pyramid

For the amazingly deep and complex 3D effect this gives, the mechanism inside is surprisingly simple.  It's also been well engineered for ease of construction and a long service life.

Temu recall of bulbs

It turns out it was me who triggered the recall of the incorrect voltage bulbs.  Good on Temu for being reactive.

"Upon reviewing your video, our team swiftly addressed the issue, and we have enhanced supervision has been implemented for this product & already modified the informa...

Temu 100W LED floodlight

This Temu 100W LED floodlight is exactly what you're expecting....

But beyond that, they have deviated from the normal circuitry arrangement by using an interesting modular approach.

Laser space nebula projector

This is actually a fairly well implemented effect.  It does use a fairly powerful laser, so care should be taken when using it where people can look into the output directly.

The nebula effect and distortion disk rotator are very reminiscent of products made by the daddy of effects pro...

One more Glasgow video

Just a quickie, since there's nothing too complex about this unit.  It's basically just an enclosed water heater with a thermal cutout and a pressure activated switch that activates the unit when the water is flowing.  The heater has fixed power output, and temperature is controlled by ...

One I recorded in Glasgow

This style of light has clearly become a common thing, and that's good, because it is supremely customisable.   The massive lens gathers up a lot of light from the LED and projects it as a very useful beam/wash in the style of a theatre profile light.

This mass produced unit repre...

Dropping a video early

I'm going to drop the molecular de-icing video early, since it's "fashionable" at the moment, and I think a lot of people are being scammed.
There are the usual suspects appearing putting up high profile adverts with really high pricing on these re-themed air fresheners.

Inside a molecular de-icer for cars

These units are supposed to prevent ice and snow from forming on your vehicle by emitting a molecular agitation field that prevents the ice crystals from precipitating.

Obviously this is a load of crap, as they are just rethemed air fresheners.

Just had the Aldi tools seized at the airport

The Aldi "Dremel" type tool and glue gun have both been taken by airport security because they felt I could brandish the glue gun like a weapon.

Next time I'll stick them in hold luggage and just lie when they ask if there are any lithium batteries in it.  (The batteries are built into...

Cheap wall mounting cordless light

The biggest surprise in this unit was the massive variation between LED currents.  The older technology yellow passes over 12 times as much current as the green LED, but still looks dimmer.

This cost a mere £3 from a local store, and would make an excellent project case.
