The Fixed Shoulder Modules have been redesigned. I got the hole positions a little wrong so it created a clash when adding the legs. I've redesigned the fixed shoulder modules and added the shoulder disc to the folder. I don't think anyone's got around to printing these (hopefully) but you can poten...

Check out a fabulous video by Trevor Fuller documenting his build of the dome. A piece of art by the end of the journey and gives you real insight into the build and finish!

Here we are, two sets of printed legs with 10 x 5mm magnets installed. Assembly and fit is really nice, please with the whole piece. Finish and painting next (and onwards to the design. Excited about looking at the drive system. Can I print it all in ABS (or PETG), nylon and ninjaflex. I think I can...

Just be aware, I've labels the legs from Artoo's perspective and the body from a front perspective. So the left leg fits onto the right side of the body and vica versa.. A little stupid but I'll correct the shoulder plates I think... as it's the body which is wrong. Makes no difference except you ne...

I pretty much only print with ABS and one of the most frequent discussions I have with people is how to stop warping. For me, both delamination and warping has been an issue. Here's my experience so far but would love to hear from others.
1) why use ABS in the first place? I love ABS, aceton...

We've finished the leg design, all ready to print (well, virtually finished). All frames and parts are now available in the Public share (and Patreon share). **Please note, I've changed the design of the ankle files from the first version on the Patreon page, this is to include the fixings for the g...

And we have a 1/2 single piece dome, both rings and all the panels in the Patreon share. I will of course move this across to the public share in a week or so but Patreons, please enjoy early! I will be doing the 1/3 dome and a cut version of the half for smaller beds...

Just the first test of a new dome design specifically for 1/2 or 1/3 droids. Single piece dome made to minimize support use. (This one has been printed with no support!). Still loads of work to do before release but happy with the test :-)

The first test print of a new dome design. (not done all the panels yet) but it's for 1/2 and 1/3 scale R2D2s. All designed for no supports and single print for the whole dome. Accurate to CSR spec with slight bullet shape so should be spot in.... More later....

I have finally got around to playing with Simply3d and discovered the pleasure of multi process printing. This is where you can selected different layer heights, infills etc on the same model. Why you ask, well speed for one! Printing the boosters you can print the walls at .3 for speed and when you...

I have a few domes already published. Just doing a new version of R2D2 (tiding up the design, tweaking it so it's full movie spec! and going over some things I wasn't as happy with, like the positioning of the inner posts to the holoprojectors). However I also have a couple of other I'm working on a...

I've completely remodelled the legs and accessories. The Leg Strut, Ankle Bracelet and virtually all the parts have been completely redesigned. When I did version 1 I wasn't that aware of all the different versions, CSL, CSR and what it all meant. Now I understand I've based the whole thing on a CSR...

Just tweaked the anklecurve design. Basically the post for the booster cover resulted in a very thin wall on the booster cover so I've reduced the peg size. This probably means nothing to you, but if you've copied across the files, RAnkleCurve(Long) and LAnkleCurve(Long) need updating otherwise your...

Well, iv got to say what a difference in time between the first version and this on. This version I printed it over Sunday and Mon...

I have to say, 123D design was my first design tool, and therefore my favourite. It was with surprise and sadness that I learnt autocrat were going to retire the product. Think I've managed to get somewhere with the leg design. I've included the foot lock bar into the main design, got all the degrees correct and not lost hardly any depth on the shoulder hub. This was the harder part. It's important for the 2-3-2 model, and I don't really want to have two different le...
