Patreon Fees (Final Story, good news)

Patreon Fees (Final Story, good news)

In comparison to the vast majority of companies that take an unwise or highly unpopular stance, where the timeframe for repeal/reconsideration ranges from weekS to MONTHS to never....I'd say they were relatively quick. It's very unfortunate though that a fair bit of damage has already been done, but I'd chalk that up to the types of people who don't care about actually supporting the creators so much as exclusive porn access. They decided "Well screw Patreon then!" and didn't give a thought about the artist before abandoning them. Fortunately, I think they at least sound sincere about their mistakes, seeing as how they were willing to commit the "PR taboos" of admitting they fouled up and how. You'd never see EA, Microsoft, Paypal, ever say anything to imply they were in the wrong. Here's hoping they do solidify on communication in the future like they're saying they will.

I'm glad that they changed their minds. I didn't want to have to change my donations due to not having enough money for the extra fees

please stop with the conspiracy theories they really do not hold water

I'm telling you this has everything to do with the American that neuter ality bill that's in Congress right now a lot of website were putting up extra fees and stuff like that in preparation for it being taken down and now that there's a bill that makes both sides happy on the table and Congress a lot of websites are rejecting those payments such as Patriot

I'm extremely grateful for you and other patrons' continued efforts on strong communication and dealing with this matter as professionally as possibly. Honestly, I can't thank you enough, dude. But this is on Patreon explaining themselves well enough and forcing you to have to deal with the fallout of THEIR poor communication.

Fortunately my losses have been minimal as I kept people in the loop about when the proposed policy would go into play. Part of the problem, they were pushing out the change too quickly as well, and a lot of creators also were misinformed on some aspects of it. (I'm sure quite a few didn't know the reasonings behind the proposals, which honesty aren't bad reasons, and misrepresented them as 'patreon taking a bigger cut for no reason,' didn't know it was was a step towards the anniversary billing, or thought that they were already in place.)

I'm upset this took a week to get repealed, and that so many creators lost patrons from the threat of change, but I'm glad they at least made the decision to stop the fees before they went live.

Nice! Good to see the Patreon staff willing to hear people out.

Awesome news.
