The REAL Conjuring = DFF #353

Tonight we look at the dream team that inspired The Conjuring films: demon hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren. Were they legit, or were they full of shit?

Yes, Paul had some slip ups calling him Earl. Maybe one day we'll do an episode on former California governor and US Supreme Court justice Earl Warren that Paul kept thinking of.

You guys should should do the godfather trilogy based on a novel and a true story getting deep fat fried.

MRI scans of the brain sometimes use a radioactive dye which is injected in the patient. These are sometimes used by psychiatrists to diagnose severe and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar spectrum disorders.

I actually really enjoyed this collection of films, as well as the Insidious films. I never really go into a horror movie expecting to be scared so maybe that's why I like some movies that other people scoff at. It might be the rich fantastical element of storytelling for some movies? I mean these are obviously the mythos of Christian supertition given faces and names and that's sort of interesting to be taken along that ride, but really I just feel tired of reality. The mundane is sad to me in a deep way that I have a hard time even articulating. Just the lack of... magic. The lack of, in some ways, unknowable and anomolous stuff. Our mysteries are just "Who killed this person?", or "How does hair grow?", or "Did Russia conspire to do so-and-so thing?" Idk. Another film I really enjoyed (and I can already hear the incredulous disbelief) is Avatar. The concept of being something, anything, other than this flawed human form is an attractive idea. Also the ability to psychically connect to anything is fascinating. I mean it's sad that no one can truly know someone else, ever, and they can never know you. There's always going to be so much lost in verbal communication whereas a thought could be so much richer. Plus it's a pretty blatant criticism of ravenous capitalist greed and the alienation of being a single disposable cog amongst billions that I'm sure many of us can relate to...
