First... I'm so excited that you will be waiting until Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker becomes available on digital or DVD for you to watch it so that you can make a reaction for it!!! I just recently saw it this weekend and I absolutely loved it, just like I love all Star Wars films. What a phenomenal Saga!! And I can't wait to discuss it all with you!! :)
As for Solo: A Star Wars Story... thank you so, so much for this reaction as well! I really love this movie, and I'm so happy that you loved it too. I love seeing the origin of how Han comes to be Han Solo, I love seeing how he comes to meet Chewie and Lando Calrissian, and I especially love seeing how Han wins the gamble against Lando so he can win the Millennium Falcon, and seeing him fly it for the first time. It's phenomenal!!
Now... in answer to your question about how i might have felt about another actor playing Han Solo, instead of the iconic and incredible Harrison Ford. I will admit... when I first saw this movie in the theaters, I was worried about seeing Alden Ehrenreich... an actor unknown to me at the time, take up the role of a young Han Solo. And even half way through the film, I was still unsure because I had trouble seeing anyone other than Harrison Ford as Han Solo. But by the end of this movie, I finally was able to see Alden as Han Solo too and I thought he did a fantastic job the more and more I thought about it and the more I continue to watch it.
As for young Lando, being played by actor Donald Glover... I saw Lando in him right away and I thought he did an amazing job from the moment he appeared onscreen and all throughout this movie. Lando is another iconic character whom I love, and for a person like me who loves Star Wars... having Lando return to the Star Wars movies is fabulous!
Now, to help explain the ending with Emilia Clark's character, Qi'ra... in honesty, I was confused the first time I saw this movie as well. Especially because the Sith Lord she was talking to in the hologram... was Darth Maul, who was cut in half by a lightsaber when he was killed in the end of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, by Obi Wan Kenobi. Darth Maul was killed before the events from Solo: A Star Wars Story. With all that being said... if you look closely at Darth Maul within the hologram, you can see he's wearing some kind of brace, or mechanism around his waist that is clearly helping to keep him alive and together. How he managed to survive... I've no idea. But that's beside my point.
As for Qi'ra's role in this ending... somehow, as far as I can figure, she somehow came to work for Darth Maul between the time she and Han were split apart in the beginning, then came to work for Dryden Vos, then came to see Han again years later. While she was working for Dryden Vos, she was actually doing so for Darth Maul for unknown reasons. At least as far as I am aware. I've since learned that one of the Star Wars cartoon series helps to explain more about Darth Maul somehow being alive again, and possibly Qi'ra's involvement with him. I've never watched any of the cartoon series, but if you want more answers than what I can offer you here in this explanation, you can look it up.
Also... you stated that you recognized the actor who plays Dryden Vos and yet you never actually said who you thought he might be. In case you weren't able to figure it out... the actor who plays him is Paul Bettany, who also plays Vision and the voice of Jarvis throughout the Avengers movie series from Iron Man through Avengers: Endgame. I absolutely love him!
Now... one thing about Solo that I really love, is that in this movie we see Han run the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs. I love this entire adventure as Han takes over flying the Millennium Falcon for the very first time so they can escape the Empire's ships chasing after them. What's great about this... is that back in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the first time that Han and Chewie meet with Luke and Obi Wan Kenobi in the tavern on Tatooine, Han brags about running the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs. And in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Rey and Finn ask Han if he's the Han Solo who ran the Kessel Run in fourteen parsecs, to which Han immediately corrects them saying, "Twelve!" shouting back that he ran the Kessel Run in twelve parsecs and that he's the only one who can. It's brilliant.
And like you caught onto... Beckett talks to Han about going to Tatooine to do a job for a well known gangster. Now, you recognized that Tatooine is where Anakin grew up along with his mother, but it's also where Luke grew up with his aunt and uncle, and where Luke and Obi Wan first met Han and Chewie. And as for his gangster Beckett and later Han was talking about... it's Jabba the Hutt, who we meet first in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, until the movies were all remastered, and Jabba was later brought into Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In Return of the Jedi, there's a fun and exciting battle that takes place on Tatooine, when Luke, Leia, Chewie, and Lando all save Han from Jabba the Hutt. I absolutely love all of the nods to the past movies. Another reason to love this entire Saga and these movies as a whole.
As for Solo: A Star Wars Story as a whole... I really love it. I love the characters, that now include L3, Beckett, Dryden Vos, Qi'ra, etc... on top of our main known characters like Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Chewie. I also love the overall storyline and the movie as a whole, directed by one of my favorite movie directors of all time... Ron Howard, who started out as an actor from many years ago. He's made a number of phenomenal movies that I love, so upon learning that Ron Howard would be directing this film... I already knew I would love it, and I most certainly do.
Thank you so much again! I have truly loved watching each of these movies with you as you watch them for the first time. And I absolutely love being able to discuss them with you. I am happy you've come to be a huge fan of Star Wars as I have since I was a little girl.
Let me know when you can watch Star Wars Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, and I will be happy to sponsor it for you in that month it becomes available. I can't wait! Until then...
