September Devlog
Added 2022-09-22 01:17:54 +0000 UTCTime for another game development update!
This month, since The Blind Date Game is done, this post is all about upcoming projects.
First off:
The Blind Date Game 1.0
In case you missed it, The Blind Date Game 1.0 is finished and available for all Patrons. And as of today, I've pushed out the 1.0 release to itch.io along with the updated free version!
If you would like a copy of The Blind Date Game 1.0 on itch and have a $10+ tier, please reach out to me and I'll send you a key!
Now, onto new projects:
Lust Potions
If you remember, I mentioned that I was developing a small Halloween project in a previous devlog. At the time, I explained the basic premise, but it's coming along pretty well and many of the tools I've been working with are tools you'll see in future projects as well so I think it's time to do a deep dive:

Current work in progress gameplay
In Lust Potions (working title) , you'll play as a lil' dude who's decided to become a wizard (he's 30) to summon succubi to take his virginity. In order achieve his goals, he'll be using a combination of alchemy, a summoning circle, and a digital copy of "A Moron's Guide to Wizardry".
Gameplay essentially goes like this:
- Use the items on your shelves to synthesize the items required to summon a succubus.
- Summon the succubus and talk with them for hints.
- Synthesize and give the succubus the item they desire.
- Enjoy your succubus sex!
The main gameplay is already functional and I've moved on to prettying up lil' dude's wizard cave through custom models and textures. Once I have all that done, I'll be moving on to creating art for the summoned succubi, including their sex scenes.

For the sex scenes, I'm using Godot's built in 2D skeleton animation. This is similar to things like Spine or Live2D in that it allows you to animate an otherwise static image. I wasn't certain on how well Godot's internal system would work for a sex scene, but, after using the system in The Blind Date Game for the internal/creampie view, I decided to give it a go and I'm fairly impressed with the results.
I still need to add a bit more to sex scenes to make the gameplay and bit more than just a single animation loop, but I have high hopes for this system. Additionally, I may also add in some secondary animations like blinking or mouth movement depending on what time allows.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the dialogue system. The Blind Date Game, despite being built around the concept of a social situation, used a fairly simple dialogue system. Sure, there were questions and the like, but those were treated as minigames instead of branching dialogue or complex scripts like I'm used to.
For Lust Potions, I'm using Dialogue Manager by Nathan Hoad as a basis. The reason I bring this up as that I intend to use a similar dialogue system when I go to work on Date a Mink 3D.
I was developing my own system and I may go back to that concept at some point (in case it's not obvious from these devlogs, I tend to drop a lot of small projects) but I felt the system I was developing was overkill and I've chosen to use this animation player focused system instead.
Also, since I brought it up:
Date a Mink 3D
The game engine I've been using, Godot, is going to be updating to 4.0 very soon (more info here) and my current plan is to develop Date a Mink 3D using that once the engine is complete. Fortunately, the wait shouldn't be too long as it's currently in beta, but it will be just a little bit longer before I take the dive and properly get to work on the game.
This is another reason I intend to use Dialogue Manger instead of developing my own tools. They already have support for the current Godot 3 branch that I'm working in and a Godot 4 release ready as well.
Lust Potions is a useful project for me as something to do instead of simply waiting for 4 to release, but I can't wait to get to work in the new engine and I may download the beta at some point to start building Date a Mink 3D early.

That was a long post, so here a tl;dr:
- The Blind Date Game is out! Message me for a key if you're a $10+ pledge!
- Lust Potions is my Halloween project where you summon and seduce succubi.
- Date a Mink 3D is my next big project and will be built in Godot 4.0.
If you have any feedback for The Blind Date Game or upcoming projects, feel free to reach out to me here or in the Discord server. Let me know what you think in the comments! Critique helps a lot!
Thanks for reading!
Comments
There's a hyperlink to the project GitHub where you can download it. I originally found it through itch.io. If you're still on 3.x, make sure to download the 1.x version instead of 2.x since that's for Godot 4.

2022-10-29 22:16:50 +0000 UTCHow do you find the Dialogue Manager? Thinking about using it in something, but currently been looking at Dialogic.
