RPPR Illustrated: Labyrinth of Lost Futures - The Subway Level

EXCERPT FROM A BOOK FOUND ON A CORPSE AT [REDACTED]

We think the subway was built sometime in the late 19th century, modeled after the London Underground. It has ten stations that we know of although rumors about other stations persist. Seven of the stations are named after continents, with the other three being "Builders", "Quarry", and "Grand Central".  We don't know who used the subway but we think each station had portals to Earth. Theoretically, a person could set foot on each continent in a single day through the subway.

The Bleak appeared for the first time sometime in the early 20th century, in a massive raid on the subway. It's hard to say how many died but the portals closed and the trains stopped after the attack. Electricity still works and fresh air is still pumped in, although no one is quite sure how that works. Smaller tunnels and hidden areas exist throughout the level. Even a century later, explorers still find new sections and treasures in the subway. The Bleak still hunt down there too, so stay on guard.

EXCERPT FROM DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE INTEL BRIEFING

Analysis: The amount of manpower and resources required to built a subway system offworld in that historical era is staggering. It also requires a high level of leadership and technical acumen to pull off. A very powerful organization did this and there is no historical record of who they were or where they came from. Some references to an "invisible path" and "a new world" in the journals of hermetic magicians of that era hint that this unknown organization recruited from occult circles. I am more troubled by the lack of ownership or identification. Who would go to all this effort and not sign their work?
