One of the few cases of the sequel outshining the original. Was so happy to see you two reacting to it.

Firstly, love you both so much. I sobbed right along with you on this one 🥰😭 Secondly, these have been some of my favorite reactions, not only because the films mean so much to me but also because you guys truly appreciate all the wonderful intricacies that make these films top tier. I'm all full of the feels right now so I best stop before I get unnecessarily deep 😆 Anyways, lets hear it for the power of love! 🥰 Much love to ya buds 🖤

I’ve never been so hyped for a reaction before haha, the fact that Greg was crying at literally everything (understandably lol) is so funny. Starting early in the movie with Hiccup and his mother bonding, I was like boy this is gonna be a long ride for Greg.
You guys should totally check out the funny skit audition tape with kit harrington and toothless after the 3rd movie. It’s only a 2 minute short but i feel like you guys would absolutely love it since it’s just a cuteness overload with toothless. There’s also the short film after the 3rd one that goes for 22minutes, whether you watch them in your own time or react to them definitely don’t miss them, they’re so fun, cute and hilarious. (There’s also 3 other short films placed between all the movies but i can’t lie to you i watched those ones ages ago and can’t remember them for the life of me so i don’t remember if they’re worth watching lol. And on top of that there’s also the tv show, Riders of Berk, I know a lot of people have been wanting you to watch it but i honestly don’t know if it’s worth it. It’s good don’t get me wrong, the world building is great, it’s hilarious and adds to all the characters growth between movies but it definitely feels like it’s aimed more for kids and kids alone, unlike the movies, plus the animation is nowhere comparable to first movie let alone the second and third. Maybe watch the first episode and see if it’s something you’d commit to, that’s if you were even considering watching it anyway haha) Looking forward to the 3rd one!!!

A nice touch is also how the dad doesn't have any last words. Usually in movies like this the main character somehow gets some solace by the last words coming from someone they are about to lose. This suddenness adds to the reality and gut-punch of real-life loss.

Yeah this movie is fantastic. Easily the best of the trilogy. One thing I think you guys were wrong about was Hiccup himself. He... was also wrong 😅 His dad and mom may have been wrong about their respective viewpoints on dragons and people.... but they were both right that Drago couldn't be reasoned with. But that's good writing. The protagonist isn't always in the right. Hell, he's 20. He's got a youthful arrogance that everyone gets where they think they understand the world as a whole and they can accomplish anything with their skills. He was misguided in thinking he could get captured and just easily change someone's mind that he's been warned about several times. And in the end, he arrives where his dad was at. A Chief protects their own. He combines his love and passion for dragons from his mom, and his strength and desire to protect what he loves with bravery and selflessness from his dad.
I absolutely loved Stoick this movie. Yeah he has a habit of not listening... but so does his boy. But being stubborn and not listening doesn't make him a bad parent, it makes him human. Upon seeing Valka alive, he would've had every reason to react angrily and be really hurt from that. (And he wouldn't have been wrong, to be fair) I think Tara was wrong about what Valka was thinking. She wasn't in charge of taking care of the dragons, the Alpha was. And that was* her home, but she clearly felt guilty about the choice she made by staying away from her husband and her son. That means to some degree, she regrets the choice she made. I think why she looked hesitant and sad when he was singing is because of how guilty she felt. It's been so long, she maybe forgot their song, which seemed like their vows. I read it as she felt possibly undeserving of that love from her husband because of what she did. But then, she started to remember, and that face of relief and happiness on Stoick was super touching.
In behavior, Hiccup is a lot like his mom, and even in their build, but one thing is different. Hiccup actually has Stoicks eyes. (I know it looks like his mother's, but hers are a brighter green than his) He's so much more like his dad than he thinks. And I love that even though he has friction with him, Stoick loves Hiccup more than anything. I was really surprised how well they showed a father-son relationship. It isn't perfect, but it feels so real and the love is there.
Okay I'm done gushing about the awesome parenting 🤣
Drago was a really good villain. How he conquers dragons with a scream of dominance and an unwavering stare and he just scares you into submission. They gave enough of a backstory to make it understandable why he hates dragons, but he's really just a hateable villain and man, do I love to hate him.
The animation was so much crisper in this movie, as you called out. The rendering with the close ups of the facial hair, and hell, even the ice looked amazing.
As good as this was.... I still love Kung Fu Panda 2 more than this. That may be blasphemous, but it might just be what moves me comparatively. Now How to Train Your Dragon 3 is also... pretty good. I think you're gonna be pretty surprised what that movie does.

When I first watched this movie when it came out I hadn't watched GOT yet (or even knew what it was) so I never put together that it was Kit Harrington's voice and now I can't unhear it so all I keep thinking is:
"You know nothing, Eret, son of Eret." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
