Mindful Monday

Start your week with 2 minutes of calm. Relax your body, clear your mind—and yes, it’s great for pleasure, erections & pain relief too!

Hey, Friends!

Let’s start the week off right with a little focused breathing.

Before the hustle and bustle pulls you in, gift yourself just 2 minutes of quiet, intentional stillness. Instant relaxation to ease mental and physical tension. (Bonus: practices like this can help improve erections, enhance your pleasure experience, and reduce pain!)

“When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and the mind becomes still, a deep peace and contentment naturally arises from within.”
How To Transform Your Life by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

You’ve got this. Breathe in. Breathe out. Be here. 💛

Yes, truly amazing and informative stuff!!! In fact, I was just reading that many times we intentionally tense up or guard different parts of our body. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally. Each muscle of the body was designed to do a particular and specific job. When one part isn't doing its job, another kicks in to help. That is why many times when out body hurts or display pain, that specific area may not be to blame for the issue. That is especially true in the core. If we have lower back pain it may be because the core isn't strong enough to do the job and the lower back jumps in to help. That is why we swaddle infants. It gives them that feeling of being secure and safe and allows them to relax BOTH physically AND mentally. Just like our breath and the feeling of totally letting go and getting into our mind to muscle connection and how that can have an effect all over including our pelvic floor and the corresponding functions therein. To me at least, I am always totally blown away at how interconnected things can be and how the smallest adjustment or change can have such a profound effect on so many different things. Wax on, wax off or in this instance, breath in, breath out with control, patience and thoughtfulness!!!!

WAY TO GO Dr Susie!!!! I have been doing breathwork for some time now as well!!! It has been very beneficial for me in many ways. Both in the total relaxation and connecting mind to muscle piece as well as adding energy by way of breathwork during the day when needed!!! My ballet/Pilates instructor was just talking about this the other day too - she was reinforcing with me that our lungs are three dimensional and there are muscle in between our ribs that can be expanded and strengthened!!! The breathing into your back and sides is awkward at first but like anything else you get more proficient by practicing and working on it!!! Everything starts with your breath, and you can help control and further your physical work by intentional thoughtful breathing!!! In fact, the other day during the NCAA men's college basketball tournament on TV, during halftime of a particular game, Charles Barkley, or " Chuck" as he is referred to, was talking about how one team was getting beat and he said the game was just going too fast for them and they were losing control. He said that it ALL starts with your breath and if he were their coach he would tell them to just slow things down and breathe - breathe deeply and controlled and take control of their emotions and the game!!! As much as Chuck is made to be the butt of many a joke, in his own way he is very wise!!! Just remember, you can ALWAYS come back to your breath!!!! And guarding in many parts of our body, ESPECIALLY in our core AND pelvic floor many times is quite unintentional and emotionally driven. Once we can take control and completely relax and let go by way of intentional, rhythmic and thoughtful BREATHING it can have a very beneficial and profound positive effect!!!! Once again Dr Susie, you demonstrated why your little corner of the world here is so helpful, kind, inspirational, relaxed, professional and gently informative all at the same time!!! Thank You - Thank You!!!! PS - this takes us back to your post of essential stretches to help ease tight pelvic floor muscles - those stretches can be made even MORE effective if we BREATHE thoughtfully throughout the entire range of the stretch!!!!
