Gibson Girls Pages 12-13
Added 2022-04-20 20:17:38 +0000 UTCI've been looking forward to these pages. :) One thing I really enjoy about having such a dominant furniture piece like this in the comic is that I get to use its lines as kinda a visual break for panels/vignettes.
I think it might be a little bit on the chaotic side in some of my existing panels but I just love the sexy curvy lines of the wood frame of the chaise lounge and the dressing screen which make up this environment and it feels like a really Art Nouveau kind of flourish to use them as borders. I keep this reference photo in front of me basically the entire time I'm drawing these to hopefully keep a handle on consistency.

Bahaha Scott McCloud gutter jokes are A+ β₯οΈ Thank you Sebbie! I'm really glad that's coming through, I want to say it was all intentional but I think some of it was definitely just happy accidents π That's one thing that's nice about having a more organic structure for making comics little this is that when I realize something is working well I have a little bit of room to go back and adjust things to embrace that sense

Like, if the story had to be described in text this is where their actions/emotions are beginning climbing to itβs peak, experience so intimate you donβt know where one ends or the other begins, blah blah. Unfortunately Iβve lost my sense of articulation so just insert a McCloud-inspired pun about my brain being βin the gutterβ here π
