Good to remember Elfman also thought he "game ended" his sister. So probably extra relief for him and his conscience. I know a lot of people strongly dislike (hate) the fact that Lisanna was brought back and think it diminishes the development of Mirajane and Elfman, personally I think the development and impact on them was just as strong and would have been just as strong in real life. For years as far as they knew she was dead. It's also quite poetic that Natsu did what he promised, found her if she got lost.

I wouldn't often consider her as one of the saddest characters in contrast to Gray, who had his entire family killed, or Erza, who was raised in captivity and tortured her entire childhood. But without contrast to them, Lisanna pretty much died, got thrown into an alternate timeline to pretend for years that she was the Edolas version of herself, growing up and lying to siblings who weren't really hers and robbed from the magical abilities she had always had. Then when the people she actually knew and loved (Natsu and Happy) showed up, who I'm sure she'd fantasized meeting again / reuniting with several times since arriving in Edolas, she didn't even tell them the truth because she didn't want these fake siblings of hers to go through the tragedy of losing a sibling like she knew Mirajana and Elfman went through in Earthland. That shit incredibly sad and messed up when you think about it. Essay over. TL;DR: I think Lisanna's story is much sadder than people realize for several reasons.
