I tried a new workflow of starting off with low poly decent topology and then multires to high poly. That way I can cleanly subdivide again.
I think i'm still a long ways off from animating anything but I can at least pose them and overpaint them now! Plus he has teeth and a tongue.
Opening up the game was a good idea after all, got a bunch of useful feedback.
