Exploring!

While hiking through the woods the other day, I came across another tower!  I've gone my whole life finding zero hidden towers and now I've found two in about a month.  This one is quite rickety and seems like it was about to fall apart, but I can't resist the urge to explore.  I s...

Another hidden tower!

Here is the second in my found tower series!  I never even thought that there would be a first!  This one is not as elaborate as the first and it's a lot less safe seeming, but I was happy to explore it for your entertainment!  Enjoy!

In the sketch book

I came across one of my beloved fairytale books from childhood. As I perused its pages, it occurred to me how perfect it would be for reference! This will provide me with images I'm fond of as I practice simple drawings with pen and ink. Here, Cinderella sits with a cat as she daydreams.

On the easel (take two)

I had meant to include this photo with the earlier post!

This is really starting to come together! I felt like I made some great progress today. The figure is almost complete, the bow is coming into focus, and I've created some atmosphere.

A little time away from it did me some good! I'm making progress!

"Archer" reference photo

Tomorrow I'll get back to work on my painting of an archer.  I've taken a couple of days away from it to gain some perspective and come up with some fresh ideas.  This is the reference photo that I'm using for the general form.

I'm not a musician.

Here's a silly video of me having fun playing with a musical instrument.  Feel free to laugh along with me as you watch!

Finnally a breeze!

It has been very hot here!  The air has been still and oven like.  I'm so glad that it's finally moving!

Walking the dog in the garden.

I went out in the cool of the morning to take in the beauty of the garden before the day got too hot.  I'm still experimenting with my new gimbal apparatus.  I think that the walking is much smoother, but the joystick control doesn't seem to want to listen to me.  I'll get better a...

On the easel!

Finally! I've started an archery inspired painting. I did something a little different this time. I painted a solid background first! I have recently seen some images of Greek frescoes. I thought that the backgrounds were really beautiful, and thought to try it myself!

Welcome to a new patron!

While I don't usually do welcome videos because I want everyone to feel comfortable and I respect the privacy of my patrons.  I do have a new patron that would like to be introduced you all!  So please give John a warm welcome!

I'm also working on some of your personal than...

Taking reference photos in my sunflower garden!

I wanted to share the process of how I go about getting reference photos. In the introduction of this video I said that I wanted to explain that to you, but by "explain", I actually meant "show".  You'll notice that there is some video included. I can take stills from video footage, so just ...

Playing at the Playground!

I spent some time looking over some old playground equipment.  Remembering how much fun it was to play on stuff just like this as a kid, and maybe I played a little after I put the camera down.  So What?  Don't judge me.

Looking back on Summer.

I took a moment look over some past projects and compile this fun little video to remember some fun times.  I think it's also a nice welcome to my new Patrons!  Welcome!  It's very nice to have you here!

Free the Nipple Shirt on the Streets!

I went to a small downtown to walk about a bit and help to normalize the female nipples.  The more people see them out in the wild the less dangerous they are! : )  This was a nice day.  I got a lot of weird looks, but I can't blame them.  This shirt is really bizarre!  &...

Fashion Forward.

This is a repost of an older video that I had put up of my "free the nipple" top.  I had some trouble getting Vimeo to work correctly for a while, but everything seems fine now so I'm using it for most of my videos on here.  If anyone has any trouble seeing this(or any of my videos) ple...

Painting a self portrait.

In the studio, I painted a self-portrait. My color choices were intense: bright, warm yellows in the skin tones, and blues, greens, and browns in the background. It seems to speak to the summer as I gaze over my shoulder. While summer season isn't officially over, the feeling that it's unwinding ...

I spent the day in the studio, enjoying myself with a self portrait. The colors are intense. Bright, warm yellows in the skin, and bright blues and muted greens in the background. It feels like a goodbye to the summer. Not a sad one, though. Just a reflection on it as I gaze over my shoulder. View Post

Top free in the river!

I put this up just to be silly.  I think it looks like a photo from the 1960's or something.  I was a little shocked at how cold the river was and didn't know how to react, so I had an odd look on my face.  Then with the color filter, I thought that it made it fun and something fro...

Comics in the Sun! "Snotgirl"

I ducked into a comic shop recently and picked up some new stuff.   While the title was repulsive I was drawn to the look of Snotgirl. Here's the new episode of my ongoing series Comics in the Sun!
