Here's one of many ideas I'd develop if I had the all-important TIME to do so. Fertility goddess transformations are an untapped goldmine. I have the 'not actually preggo' disclaimer in there because something about creating life for the sake of a fetish comic doesn't sit right with me.

The Underburbs universe, outside of a few prominent exceptions, is a largely noseless one. I thought I'd do a few quick sketches to remind myself why. Angela actually came out decent. Winifred could look distinguished if I gave it a little more time, but still is in danger of having a default upturn...

Here's a #TBT post for you! This was a concept piece I did back in 2005. It's a scene where some grim-reaper-esque phantom tears Angela's soul from her body, leaving a mean-looking zombie behind. If this sounds familiar to you, then it's likely you've read Underburbs #12. It came out several years a...

One of my favorite outcomes for Angela's Magic Lesson was the Mystic. In that one, she is flooded with so much magical knowledge and power that she evolves into a new being, replete with flowing robes and floating jewelry. In the epilogue, she shares this power with her friends and build a new socie...

Half or maybe like 65% of the fun of my Angela's Magic Lesson series is coming up with the designs for Angela's various transformations. So it's even more fun to explore how the rest of the Underburbs cast can be affected by Angela's tinkering with spells. One such lesson has Angela stumble upon a '...

A quick animation I did on Flipnote (3DS) that inspired yesterday's sketch. I wish I'd left some more frames at the end. I suppose if you download it you can get a better look at the individual images.

Looks like Angela's Easter bunnification didn't result in a poofy dress like Winifred's. Do real rabbits have such poofy fur right there, or is that just for cartoons?

Looks like the Countess is getting into the Easter spirit! Is that a thing, like the Christmas spirit? Well, let's just say she's getting into the "spring"of things. Nah, too vague. Maybe you could say she's... turning into a rabbit. So to speak.

This is my cat, Ramona. Cute, isn't she? Well I had to draw her from the couch because she stole my seat while I was making a sandwich.

Man, it's hard to remember the Daily Doodles when I'm working on stuff! This is a much more realized before & after of my latest Angela's Magic Lesson epilogue. You can see the slight changes made from the original pencil drawing to the final cropped and colored image. Almost all of the color is...

Preliminary sketches for an upcoming commission featuring Angela and Winifred as fish. I don't think I want to get into particular species, but just try to design the fish around their regular forms. These will be fun to color when I finally get a chance to do it!

Occasionally (very occasionally) I do some standard illustration jobs. These were two spots I did for a local university. They wanted a guy leaping over a hurdle wearing a mortar board and holding a diploma like an Olympic torch. I decided not to ask if burning your diploma was the image th...

Today was the first day that actually felt like Spring in Salem, so my lady friend and I took a walk to the Greenlawn Cemetery. We're sooooo dark, right? Naw, the real reason we go is for the critters. There's a pond there that always has geese and ducks. Sometimes, we can even spy a turtle. But tod...

Throwback Thursday strikes again! This was my attempt at a logo for The Underburbs way back when it was only a working title. I always liked the idea of inverting symbols to represent the human world and the monster world. The simple houses and castles appear in this early design, but the u...

I had a bit of Internet Drama on DeviantArt the other day which ended in me lashing out possibly a little more than I should have. It was frustrating to try to communicate with someone unwilling to have a conversation. I started with some poking and prodding, sure. But I can only take so much. I fee...

This was an illustration that I did for States of Terror, a short-story horror anthology based on myths and urban legends in the United States. The story I illustrated (but did not write) was about the jackalope of Wyoming. The "real" jackalopes are just ordinary rabbits with horn-like tumo...

I was working on a Magic Lesson (see mr-dna.deviantart.com) in which Angela here turns herself into a dragon, so I wanted some practice with snouts. What should have been a study of several faces from different angles became a single illustration because THAT, my friends and patrons, is how I roll. ...

Try and guess how jazzed I was to see the season premiere multiple times last night! It's hard for me not to make the association with classic titular cartoon duos, so here they are in a hastily rendered Looney Tunes-esque ring.

Look at me, illustrating my foibles of being an artist with an online presence! I'm a regular Tom Preston over here! Well, as it turns out, even ol' Joe Haley has his limits. A co-worker of mine is selling her stuff at Anime Boston, and is taking a stack of my ads for Big Picture Framing (see yesterday's post). I made up a little sign to be credited for the ad, and threw in a few places to see more of my stuff. I was proud of my two-color self portrait. Also, my freehand...

Oh snap, it's Throwback Thursday! Every year, I go to the Boston Comic Con to sell my comics, do sketches, and meet fans old and new. One year I also did an ad in their program for my day job, where I am a mild-mannered picture framer. The hero in the middle is Big Picture Custom Frame Man, because ...

I was in the middle of working on stuff and realized I haven't made a post today. So how's about a nice, clean scan for once instead of phone pics? If you're familiar with the Angela's Magic Lesson series on my DeviantArt page, then you may have seen Angela turn herself into (among many, many other things) a centaur. The completed transformations will often spill into epilogues where she interacts with her friends and/or family in her new form....
