Okay, I don't really think this strip is that weak. I just had to get Mecho on his way out of this lake. And this does show that he can mix and match his functions. He's in his scanned fish mode, but he ...

Another successful scan, another gross miscalculation of how Mecho's metal body will apply to it.

I'm really into the second panels of a lot of these strips.

Oh, Mecho. You may look like a frog (kinda), but you weigh considerably more than one.

In today's strip, shit gets real. Also, I think at this point I should mention that I don't usually draw robots. I grew up on G1 Transformers so long ago that they were just called Transformers. You didn't need specification because there were no other Transformers series, unless you count Go-Bots, ...

Mecho finally decides not to run from the local fauna, and leans in for a very in-depth look.

Whether you're made of flesh or steel, no one wants to be covered in the kind of bugs that lurk in hollow logs. Also, I'm happy with my little waterfall in panel 2. I guess I didn't want to just draw a log.

Mecho can also observe his surroundings and adapt to them. He sees a big tree and wants to be big, too. From there, it's up to him to decide whether or not that's useful.

Another one of Mecho's functions is that he can use his eyes to light his path. That doesn't mean he's always going to like what he sees. What? Why doesn't he use infrared scanning? Because it isn't funny, ya dingus!

Mecho must either futilely attempt the climb to his safe box over and over again, or venture into the unknown. He chooses the latter, as that's a much more interesting comic.

Mecho's first instinct is to return to his box. But his little rollers aren't exactly all-terrain.

Now we see the first of Mecho's functions. What else can he do with just those panels and rollers?

We finally get our first glimpse of the truck's cargo and our main character. I'm trying to emulate Bill Watterson's inking, albeit with pens and markers instead of ink and brush. I still think I pulled it off really well in panel 2.

For the next 20 days, I will be posting my very short run comic, Mecho. I ran off about 30 copies of this when I worked at a (crappy) print shop in 2010. Looking back, it was a resource I should have abused more.
Anyway, Mecho was sort of an experiment. I wanted to draw a series ...

These non-canon series usually warrant exploration. So if I do two, I know finishing the trilogy is inevitable. Here’s Rosemary with the Wrench of Locks. With Angela and Winifred, they’ve got the makings of a full-service garage. Not that kind of service, you pigs.

You ever do something so well you’re asked to do it again right away? Now Winifred gets a taste of the Wrench of Locks’ power whether she wants to or not.

Here’s the intermediary sketch of Mechanic Angela. I was still figuring out what I wanted to do with the hair. I had her using a rubber tire as a hair tie, but widely decided against it.

I finished the long-haired, buxom mechanic Angela, but waited until I got home so I could post a proper scan and not just a phone pic. Because you all deserve better than phone pics. A color version will be coming to my DA gallery sometime this week.

Thanks to a magical whatchamathingie called The Wrench of Locks, Angela becomes a mechanic with performance-hamperingly long hair!
The joke might work better if this were an actual lock wrench, and not just an oversized crescent.

I don’t know what it is. I feel that out of my two main characters, I relate to Angela more. But put a crayon in my hand, and I’m going to draw Winifred every time. Maybe she works better with a limited palette.
