Thank you! I thought it would make something a bit more sexy and elegant to have the robe "part" on the side, to reveal the legs. And when making re-interpretations of known characters (specially one beloved like her), it's important to keep a few traits intact so people can still recognize it. For her, I kept her iconic smirk and the frontal part of the hair style. I just made the hairbun a bit more elaborated and her hair a bit longer overall. Given how one of the very first things she did when she was a "firelord" for a day by the end of the series, was to have a "spa day" I can see her being vain about her appearance in a grown up version =D

I have seen so many talent artists redesign her robe and this one is one of my favorite. Your portrayal of her leg tattoo, her robe, her hair are very similar to my vision. Glad to see someone like-minded. I'm really appreciate you for delivering this image because I am such a huge fan of ALTA and Azula is by far one of my all times favorite character. It is sad to see no redemption arc for Azula after seeing her descending to madness.

Thank you! It was quite an interesting idea to make a unique version of her. I always like the idea of re-imagining my own version of a specific character. One as iconic as her, has a lot of challenges and risks. I wanted to keep intact her "menacing smirk", the hair style and use her robe (that appear on the series) as a starting point to create this one. I also wanted to make sure it resembled her room (that also appears on the series) but at the same time it was unique. The tattoo itself I thought it was fitting for her, and would also make it more unique. Overall it was an interesting challenge to paint this one. I think there's enough of "Azula" in her but also has something that I can say I did lol

It's a great series. I first watched 1 year ago as a 30+ adult and it's really really good. The series get's a lot more interesting on season 2, I give you that. It was definitely an interesting challenge to make a grown up version of her. I wanted to make sure the iconic traits of her were present, so I'm quite happy with the result!

First of all, I don't know much about the series. I've never been a fan, mainly because it's not popular in my region. But sweet mother of god isn't that a gorgeous looking woman! I can imagine how happy her fanbase is because I don't think they've seen anything like this, more so a work of such quality. Hell, I'll probably even vote for her voyeur! I don't even know where to start! I love literally everything about it :D From Azula herself to very little background details like the color of the sky or the floor reflection! Fantastic job at the lighting as always. The colors of course make sense because of the fire element. I like how the warm light correctly highlights her upper torso and the wall. Azula herself is a masterpiece! I love the hair style and that smirk she has as she's pulling out the hair pin, which seems to be a weapon. There's such a great sense of her character here. That dress is simply gorgeous and it's my favorite version of my favorite color :D I love the look of the belt and the exposed legs & shoulder. Her tattoos are very well done. They're beautiful and make her even more sexier. That you said the other day how the tattoos gave you some trouble makes me very highly appreciate how you take time to do these characters justice. Very commendable! I really admire your drive and I'm sure your hard work pays off. Keep up the good work!

Yeah so I'm just going to say it... this is a masterpiece! 😻😻😻😻😻 I adore everything about it! The overall colours are gorgeous, I really like the sunset sky with the purple blending down into a soft orange, with the yellow-brown mountain range looking great too with it's rough textures and the sweeping curve through it adding some flow to the exterior. The details in everything are sensational, like the patterned wall on the left, the rippling red drapes behind Azula, the wooden grain with it's patterns, chips and textures, the pattern on the floor which even has a reflection of Azula's foot! The pillar in the foreground is great too with it's wood textures and all the detail in those metal decorations with a strong contrast in lighting which defines the 3D patterns and engravings on it so well. Quite literally (and I mean literally) everything here has been given so much love and care and it is all exquisite! 😸 The overall lighting colours look so good too, I really like the darker, dimmer tones of the interior, particularly the lower half, which really contrasts with the more vibrant exterior. And I love the feel of the setting sun casting it's light in on the red drapes, the wall and the upper plane of "railing" that Azula is sitting against, leaving the lower exterior in this cool shadow. Azula is just... I think I might be in love 😻😻😻😻😻 Looking first at her clothes, again, everything so lovingly detailed, I adore the subtle shining texture of the red robe which has this smooth, silky feel to it. All of the folds look fantastic, with my favourites being the ones collecting and converging between her thighs, with a transition from warm to cool across them. As well as on her left arm, where the folds all swirl down towards her hip, with the folds popping even more thanks to the shadows and bright edge-lighting running down the arm. I'm not sure what to call it, but the overall belt is terrific with it's patterned material that is also beautifully detailed with it's lighting, texture and folds, as well as that intricate, golden fire decoration. The shining texture is gorgeous, as is the very stark contrast in light and dark, with the brightest white-ish spots really making them pop. Azula herself is simply breathtaking, I adore her hair with subtle lighting running through most of it, giving it a soft shine and showing off the overlapping strands, then having that stark, bright edge-lighting really popping against the darker tones. Her overall skin textures are beautiful and I love the mix of perfectly smooth blending with some painterliness to it, a great example being her left leg. The thigh looks incredibly smooth while the bending knee has some of that painterly texture to it and I just love that. The definition of that whole leg looks great too, with the edge-lighting really popping, with an overall soft warm light running through the thigh, smoothly blending into darker tones on each side. And what's great is that there are warmer and cooler shadows on either side of that light, creating a great contrast on that leg, same with the calf being so cool, making it pop against the thigh. And I love the calf with that dark shadow running through it, with softer, brighter shadows and edge-lighting on either side. And of course both legs contrast so very well with each other, with the warm sun bathing one while the other remains in shadow. Her standing leg looks amazing, not just thanks to the elegant shapes of it, but that intricately detailed tattoo running throughout it is fantastic. And the blue tones of the tattoo just make the leg look even cooler, adding even more contrast to the warmth and red tones elsewhere on her. Moving back up, I really like her raised hand and the way you've rendered the plane changes of the fingers, with thin lights on the corners where they bend. The warm light and cool shadows again contrast so well and the painterly textures are terrific. Her neck, chest and exposed shoulder look beautifully smooth too with lovely soft plane changes, like where the bumps of the collarbones rise up from the overall darker tones of the chest and again, I love the edge-lighting on the shoulder. And lastly, her face is just beautiful! 😻😻😻😻😻 The lighting here is very nice, overall warm colours with the soft shadows on her right side, and the cast-shadows from her hair on her left, both framing the warm tones on the front planes of her face. The smooth blending of the softer shadows is lovely too and I just love how you paint noses. There's something very cute about them, with overall darker tones around the tip, then with bright edge-lighting cutting through and defining the shapes and showing overlaps. Of course the textures of the lips are luscious too and I just love her overall expression and eyes, the warm orange-brown of the irises surrounded by dark lines just works so well. I think this comment is especially long, even by my standards, but that just goes to show how much I love this painting! Seriously, every little bit of it! I could quite happily hang this up on my wall purely on it's own merits (I say since I've never watched Avatar and have no idea who Azula actually is 😹) Excellent work on what must be one of your very best masterpieces! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
