MetalMercs RETURNS!

We are coming back! Yes I have officially locked down a date for the reveal of Alpha 7. It will be on Sept 13th at 3pm EST (link).

As you no doubt know by this point, this past year I made the tough call to translate MetalMercs into the Godot game engine. This required a huge amount of work but, for the longevity of the MetalMercs universe it was necessary. I have always said that I hope to grow MetalMercs with continued content for years to come, and the old engine and old code was just hitting its limit. Making this change set us back at least a year, but in the long-term, it's going to open so many possibilities in terms of future content, so it was the hard but right choice!

On the 13th, I will host a livestream where I will reveal a playable version of the new game. This version will look both familiar and new, as it will be the same MetalMercs universe you've come to know but with a fresh and upgraded set of visuals and interfaces. I'll be happy to take any questions you have during the stream and tell you all about the past year and upcoming plans. After the stream, I will be releasing the playable version to active Patreons first, likely after about a week after the stream. After a few weeks I'll make a wider release to all supporters. This new demo is playable but does not include every feature from the PyGame version yet, and so my plan is to keep the new demo in the supporter community while we build it back up before eventually replacing the Steam demo.

The other good news is once this version is out you won't have to wait another year for the next update. I'll be able to go back to releasing semi-regular updates as new features get added to the game. Meaning periodic improvements to gameplay, new features, and lots of new stuff in the months to come!
