2026 Roadmap + Dev Update

Hey everyone we've got a bit of an important dev update to go through but we'll be talking about the Campaign and some new Art updates coming soon.

New Art

Picking back up where we left on last month's update i've been working on rigging and animating the finalized versions of the Zerg Town Models

A lot of polishing work is still on-going as well as making changes to the animation based on feedback from our Art experts.

The toughest part about animating these three has been the lack of a proper morph mesh created for these versions specifically, for now though we'll have to make do and wait until both our Concept Artist and Modeller can create a new model that fits perfectly.

And now to complete the set, the new Hive model which i've received recently, though we're still working on optimizing the model just a bit before it goes through the rigging and animation process.

These models are still in a very much Work in Progress State and its likely their development will drag on for a while but once all three are complete they'll be added to the game. The current goal is to have them ready by January at most.

Lastly is the WIP Fleet Beacon, AltJunior is still working on this one but once ready it'll go through the process. Special thanks to AcresDeCruz for sponsoring the creation of this model.

Campaign News

But before we look at what's in store for the upcoming releases let's go over some campaign news.

Over the last couple of months i've been on the lookout for new members to join the Campaign development team, effectively growing the team from 1 member to 4, this has helped massively as i was able to offload tasks that were weighing me down and has allowed me to make great progress.

Some bad news however as we've touched over in our Discord: the development for the Evo Remake which is the continuation of the Mapster Demo has had its development put in a pause, its not indefinite nor a full cancellation of the project, we're just reassigning some time and resources into a project that will take significantly less development time and costs while we continue to commission the rest of the required Art for the Evo Remake.

You may be wondering what makes it take so long and its a twofold problem: Redesigning the Campaign missions and all the Required art such as the Portraits, Story Models take quite a while to produce.

This is all happening at the same time as we are creating all the new doodads, buildings, units and animations required to complete the Core Art (Base game Unit and Building models excluding campaign units).

Due to this I've decided to shift our focus into the Legacy Campaign which has seen significant development progress thanks to the updated internal Libraries as well as the new team members implementing some much needed features.

Campaign Roadmap

On much less gloomy news however the Legacy project has grown a bit as we've seen some places for improvement that won't alter the core experience for the more purist users and even have some improvements for those seeking a more refined Campaign experience.

We're aiming to release Episode 0: Loomings on Early Access this December or Early January at the latest and the Campaign team is working hard to make that a reality.

But what does Early Access mean in our case? To put it simply we're just making some final QA that the team may have missed during development, this Early Access will last a relatively short period of time and is available to Patreon Members.

For Legacy we're quite excited about some of the new features we're adding to it such as customization options and new gamemodes, although as of now we're not sure they'll make it to Early Access but here are some of the planned options and gamemodes.

Customization Options

These are just some of the planned customization options for Legacy, as we add these a toggle will be added before starting the Campaign that allows players to easily choose a preset type such as Hardcore, Remaster, Legacy and Custom as for what these mean you'll have to find out once released.

Gamemodes

There is no development timeline for either the Gamemodes or the Customization options but for now its a way for the Devs in the team to contribute with their skills and concepts to the more flexible system that is Legacy.

We're publishing a final much more detailed blogpost once we approach release.
