D'Argo's makeup was indeed changed for season 2. I don't precisely remember why, but the show runners explained it in an interview somewhere as due to the effects of being in vacuum for so long. Anthony Simcoe also stopped wearing the colored contacts he'd had for season 1 D'Argo due to doctor's recommendations. Other characters also get makeup changes as the seasons go on, but most are more subtle.

2021-01-25 09:12:44 +0000 UTCI actually initially disliked John in this season (when watching it live). Later revelations completely changed my opinion and upped my regard for the writing team significantly. This is where they really start hitting their stride.

He even writes one of the eps coming up, he also writes 2 eps a season on Expanse. "John is going insane" lol just wait, S2 is completely bananas insane! This season has some of my fave eps in the entire series.
