Hello and welcome!!!
Added 2019-03-12 17:49:55 +0000 UTCI bet you are wondering what's all going on here and why.
As you know I post a ton on the Prusa Community facebook about things I'm testing, printing, doing. I've had people bug me forever to put up a Patreon page or accept some sort of monetary compensation for what I do.
ehhh... that was the hard part. What can I offer for money that I won't end up hurting the community in the long run? I don't want to make secret profiles or secret tests or secret prints. I want to be able to share everything with everyone at the same time but how????
Genius! Have a specific community dedicated to helping me work through the things I'm doing and that's all of you here.
I always need direction and with everyone here I have that. I mean you've Missy lonely noticed I have an endless supply of things going on.
When I need to know what filament type to work on and come up with a Slic3r profile or which Slic3r settings to make an informative video on you are my goto.
Tiers are simple. Everyone who is a Patron gets to vote on all generic things. Basic example:
I want to know what type of filament you'd like me to work on a profile for so all tiers get to help vote on a list of different filaments like flexPLA, Glass Filled Nylon, ABS, and so on. Let's say the vote is up for a week and the majority want Glass Filled Nylon. The higher tiers, $5-$10, get to vote on the specific brand(s) I go out and buy to get a base test and general profile for.
The tests and such will be posted here as well as the process but when the profile is ready it'll be posted for EVERYONE. This way I'm not making my profiles a paid for thing and hiding it from people who just don't want to or can't donate. I never want to hide things behind a pay wall but making the process more personal, engaging, and helpful to those who want to be part of the process I'm more than willing to do.
Of course there will be plenty of things not Slic3r related. I have so many half done projects on my desk that need to be completed so help me figure out what to prioritize so they can be completed and the info shared. This way I can add new projects suggested by all of you for each and every month following.
In the future there will be other things I'll share and do so remember this is just a general setup for what we are doing here so expect some surprises along the way.
Until then feel free to share your comments and of course thank you all for your support.
