UPDATE: BIG Incoming June Changes
Added 2020-05-27 17:03:38 +0000 UTCRecent life events have encouraged me to go through with some changes I've been sitting on for a while involving my Patreon and the content I offer you guys. Don't worry I'm not gonna go anywhere, though.
I think when I started out I was just throwing anything I thought people would find valuable into the tier benefits. But, having maintained this patreon for about a year now, I feel like I went overboard.
So below are some changes that are going to start in June:
ADOPTS
My process for handling adopts will stay mostly the same. There'll still be monthly sales. 1-3 adopts with 30-minute warnings before they actually go live.
However, the default price for an adopt is going to increase to $150. So whenever a batch comes out, if it's on my standard base, that's how much they're going to cost. I probably won't be deviating from my standard base either unless it's for a public batch (that you guys will still get first dibs on.)
To balance out this change, I'm also going to try including outfit adopts or weapon/prop adopts in these batches regularly also.
TL;DR: If you're only here for regular adopts, and you're not looking to spend a minimum of $150, you might want to choose a lower tier or withdraw completely.
SPECIAL COMMISSION OPENINGS
My routine for handling commissions is going to change a bit as well as the type of commissions I will be offering.
When it comes to handling:
You will still vote on the type of special opening you want to have each month. However, I want to offer smaller and more controlled public general commissions a liiiitle more frequently. So, to keep my patreon queue from overpowering everything else, I'm going to be limiting slots more. So...I'm going to try to avoid having like....25-drawing long patreon-only queues.
The following commission options are also going to be discontinued:
- Flat-Colored Styles
I don't enjoy doing them and I'm rarely happy with the final results. (This does not apply to beans, gachas, base transfers, sketchpages, etc. Just general commissions) - Crispy Style
I don't enjoy working in this style anymore. It's gotten very tedious over time. - Pixel Icons
Due to my lack of skill, even with shortcuts, they're too tedious and nerve-wracking. - Polished Sketchpages (As you know them)
Sketchpages will still be offered just not in the style I've been doing them in. As it currently stands, they're basically regular commissions crammed into a single picture. (A trap I figured I'd eventually fall into.) They're going to get messier if I can help it.
Even though I am taking these options away, I'm also working on some new commission types to potentially offer in the future. BUT if any of the things above were your sole reason for pledging, here's your opportunity to withdraw.
In addition to that, there will be general commission price increases. The 10% discount will still remain. Non-patrons will have higher prices to deal with. I will also start charging additional fees based on what you're commissioning that will not be discounted. You can find the updated prices and a list of common fee types that can occur HERE
FULL RES ART, SPEEDPAINTS, ETC.
I will still be posting all my art I did during the month at full res at the end of each month.
However, I will no longer be promising speedpaint videos. They're a lot of work to edit and upload and only a small fraction of patrons actually watch them.
I do want to upload more content to my youtube channel so I'll do them every now and then but they'll be public. If you're here exclusively for that, I feel like you probably left already because I haven't done a speedpaint in months lol, but in case you haven't, now you know. There's your out.
ONE LAST THING
I've made enough progress in my current queue to feel comfortable opening the experimental polished sketch commissions I mentioned earlier in the month. I've since stopped calling them 'polished sketches' and have started calling them 'Storybook Style Commissions.' The style is rougher looking, it has a bit of a texture when viewed up close and the linework isn't as neat as I usually make it. (But if any of you have seen my linework....not to sound arrogant or anything but...you know I tend to obsess over cleanliness and neatness more than what would probably be necessary)
ANYWAY, those will be opening on the 31st to act as a test run and I'll probably only be accepting 2-3 of them.
