A brief excerpt from the authorised biography of Thomas Edison: A warm light for all mankind.
Historically speaking, the ability to produce technology which incorporates arcane components is a relatively recent development. Yes mankind has been capable of incorporating magic into tools but I would say the incredible complexity of a coordinated pan-continental Lightning Rail Network is far removed from a magic sword, an object which is, at its core, a lump of enhanced metal used to hit people.
As we speak, the Damascan’s are developing newer techniques for working Mithril and Adamantine, the French L’ordinateurs are tripling global productivity and the elemental lightning-rail networks span the globe on land and sea whilst elemental air-ships strafe the skies and freight subs traverse the sea bed. It is no secret that the Meritocrats disapprove of this democratisation of convenience and I understand their concerns but to be blunt: we’re ready for it. As a race we’ve come a long way and it’s time we took pride in our own ingenuity. Every day we grow greater and more wise than the last.
Yes, most of these technological marvels are not without cost and so far only the wealthy can afford to partake in such journeys but the lay people are still able to enjoy the benefits of steam and Electric power which are prevalent in most developed cities and in time even rural areas will reap the benefits of a mechanised existence. So let us continue, Harder, Better, Faster stronger into a new age where man can reach out and grasp his destiny using metallic arms!
