Building up

Hi folks,

Happy Monday from Rusty Towers! It’s been a frantic and mirthfully murdersome weekend with the RQ Crew as those who tuned in yesterday to catch the 5K Twitch Followers celebration in Among Us will have seen – thank you to everyone who tuned in to see such shenanigans take place and supported us in getting there. As ever, it’s your generosity that keeps us able to do such fantastic things and have so much fun together.

If you missed this spacefaring spectacle, you can catch up on the VOD available on the main RQ channel or visit the various crew channels via our new Team page to catch their sides of things. Many of those who weren’t streaming directly were also recording their footage, so you can no doubt expect to see some compilation material or highlights being put together by the Video Team!

In other stream news, Mike continues his Scary Games Season this coming Saturday with Outlast, a renowned game of the survival horror genre from 1996, er... 2013. And as I mentioned last week, we’ve got a special treat planned for Hallowe’en itself… On Saturday 31st October, Alex Newall and Hannah Brankin team up with Alasdair Stuart and Marguerite Kenner of EA Podcasts for Little Hope, the next instalment of the Dark Pictures anthology from Supermassive Games! This will be streaming on both the RQ and EA Podcasts channel, with the aim of completing it on the day, so settle in for an afternoon/evening of macabre storytelling.

A couple of weeks ago I talked about the Patreon-exclusive audio drama series that was a key point of one our earliest milestones, and introduced the production team that will be bringing it to you. Previously, we had said that we had picked up a project from an unrepresented writer that would be called Freaks’ Rollcall. As show & script development proceeded, we felt this title is not really appropriate for the story being told, so we have a new one!

I am pleased to announce Inexplicables, written by Tom Critch & Alexander J. Newall! This show looks at a community of supernatural folks trying to live their lives in relative peace. But when their main benefactor dies, leaving things to her unknowing children, drama ensues… This six-part audio drama, set in northern England, features darkly comic elements, and will be released to all Patrons at the Citizen tier or above in one go. We’re in the first stages of casting and look forward to bringing this to you, all being well, early next year.

But what about the other Patreon-exclusive show we’ve talked about? Well, as for that, Patrons at the Knight tier and above, Enthusigasm launches this Friday! This convivial chat show with RQ Crew, run and hosted by Helen Gould, will release on Fridays at 6pm BST for a 12 episode pilot series. Our resident composer, Samuel D.F. Jones, has done the music and this lovely logo is courtesy of Anika Khan!

And to give you an idea of what to expect… here are the outlines & who you can expect to hear from in the first few episodes:
- #1: Baking, with Nico, Elizabeth & Anil
- #2: Marvel, with April, Lowri & Martyn
- #3: Horror, with Jonny, Tai & Alasdair Stuart

In event news, running next week on 23rd – 25th October is OutpostCon 2020, a virtual convention featuring panels and shows “to explore the ridiculous, the incredible, and our possible futures”, with special guests that include author Yoon Ha Lee, voice actor Susan Egan, actor/musician Tim Russ, and our own Ben & Tim Meredith for a special edition of Stellar Firma!

On Saturday 24th October on the Podcast Track, at 9pm BST / 4pm EST, “join Trexel Geistman and his clone assistant David 7 for a Board-mandated Question & Answer session, because Trexel knows what he did. In this hour Trexel is legally obliged to answer questions put to him by you, the loyal citizen-employees of Stellar Firma.”

Tickets for the convention weekend are $25, but if you are unable to attend, this session will be recorded for general release at a later date.

I am so excited for Inexplicables, both because it sounds great in its own right and because it's set in the north of England!

Same! In a three sentence description, they managed to check so many of my boxes. That's moving to the top of my "can't wait" list.
