For the birds

Hi folks,

Happy Monday from all of us! Hope everyone is taking care of themselves. Life at Rusty Towers continues apace as we work on the various show finales coming up and what the rest of 2021 and beyond are going to look like.

There’s not long to go in our horror short story writing competition, Rusty Fears 4. Submissions close this Sunday 28th February! Full details and themes are over on our website, and we’re really looking forward to reading what terrifying tales you have to offer.

And as for other things to celebrate the end of The Magnus Archives, we’re working on an extensive list of bonus content to bring you, for both the public feed and as extra Patreon content, to run well into the later parts of the year. Things like, more from Georgie Barker on What The Ghost?, roundtable conversations on how Season 5 was made and how writing the show has changed over the years, retrospectives as the cast & crew put their own questions to Jonny & Alex, and more lore from the Archives itself.

Our big news this week is that this Saturday, 27th February, we will supporting GameBlast 21, a charity streaming project to raise money for SpecialEffect! SpecialEffect is a fantastic UK-based charity that supplies custom equipment to physically disabled gamers to help improve access to gaming and expand the range of entertainment options available to them. So, this weekend we’re turning the Saturday Session into a charity fundraiser, from 7 – 11pm GMT, as the Stream Team of Mike & Nico are joined by Helen Gould and Frank Voss for more avian antics in an evening of Hatoful Boyfriend! Expect multiple runs and delightful vocal shenanigans, along with a number of stretch goals to help us raise as much as we can for this great cause. Spread the word, cos the birds are the words, as we take flight once again into, what will no doubt be, beautiful chaos for charity!

Quick reminder that pre-orders are now open for the enamel pins from designer Greer Stothers! All 15 designs, from The Buried to The Web, are now available individually, as a full set of 15 (at a discount) along with a special risograph poster print of all the artwork. Lastly, as any of you who are members of the WorldCon membership may be aware, the nomination window for the Hugo Awards are open now, until 29th March. We think The Magnus Archives is eligible as a contender for this year's Best Series category and we'd gratefully appreciate your consideration on this, if anyone here is able to nominate & has an open ballot. (Note: there is a paid fee entry for this process if not already a member, and we would not want Patrons who aren't already in the WorldCon community to nominate). More info available HERE.
