Post Launch and Penultimate Peril

Allow me to start of this letter with an enormous thanks from the team. We were amazed and humbled by such a warm and positive reception to our new branding and the new RQ Network! It has been a real pleasure to see the thousands of reactions as well as the hundreds of comments and messages sharing your excitement.
For any who may have missed the announcement, we debuted new branding and our first wave of five shows: Cryptids, The Deca Tapes, How it Ends, Old Gods of Appalachia and The Storage Papers on Monday. This is far from an isolated thing and the wheels are already in motion towards bringing you more podcasts soon, so keep an eye out over the coming months. I will let you all know more closer to the time.
This week brings the penultimate episode of Stellar Firma. That’s right folks, this week isn’t the end but we are now reaching penultimate peril with the release of episode 75 on Friday May 21st before the story concludes with episode 76. There is also still time to get your questions in to the Stellar Firma mailbag which closes at midnight today! Send Tim and Ben your questions by emailing mail@rustyquill.com.
Last week Patrons were treated to Anglerfish inspired artwork by Maeltopia’s Mark Anzalone. We were glad so many of you liked this exclusive artwork and we have a number of other Patreon exclusive art pieces in the works from this artist, including interpretations of fan favourite The Magnus Archives characters Nikola Orsinov and Jane Prentiss.

2021-05-17 21:23:23 +0000 UTCFrom what I’ve gathered through Discord commentary and Alex on the last Magnus Q&A, Rusty Quill is still going to be making podcasts, which is what this Patreon supports. The RQ Network is supposedly a self-sustaining entity and the Patreon money doesn’t go toward that. Also Alex said he literally can’t talk about upcoming Rusty Quill projects yet so who knows when we’ll find out about that stuff. The wording on these network announcements has been really vague and confusing with any podcasting details coming from sleuthing efforts on fans’ parts. I don’t know if that’s intentional but personally I find it really really frustrating. Here’s to having faith that Alex will let us know what the hell is going on with Rusty Quill the podcasting company since as we see it now, their last two projects are ending and we’ll be left with nothing.

2021-05-17 17:11:52 +0000 UTCI think it's like a television network or so I got. Basically you know how ABC runs their own shows but then they show series by other folk? RQ is RQ, they aren't paying or supporting financially other shows but they are helping them get exposure by giving them other types of support. Such as access to new markets. Now I might be wrong but that's how I understand it.

Edit: I think a previous comment already answered this. Either way, congrats on continuing to grow and maintaining your commitment to excellence in all things. I'm excited for whatever new RQ originals are in the works!

I imagine they're waiting to drop info about new shows for the ideal marketing time, but in the meantime altho I do very much enjoy the RQ staff it's a bit odd to be contributing money for the folks who are marketing other shows that I don't consume/could be contributing that same money directly to. Willing to sit on my hands for a bit but agreed re: FAQ!!

2021-05-17 16:49:05 +0000 UTCFrom what I gather from Discord conversations, this Patreon will continue to support RQ staff and efforts, with the shows on the network funding themselves while gaining marketing/representation assistance from the RQ Network. RQ also plans to continue making their own shows. Again, that’s what I gathered from Discord. An explicit update here addressing common FAQ’s would be helpful, methinks.

I'm super happy to support the shows I love, of course, but given that original RQ shows are winding down and the new shows in your network have individual patreons, I'm curious to hear what, exactly, my pledge here will be going towards. It feels a bit like contributing to a channel rather than the shows directly :)
