Seasons
Added 2022-02-07 16:44:44 +0000 UTCHi folks,
Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers!
Firstly, a huge thank you from the whole Rusty Quill team for your kind words about our cast and writers announcement last week. If you missed it, head over to our Twitter account to see the full run-down. We’ll keep you posted as we’re ready to announce more details about each of these shows.
Speaking of announcing more details, a couple of weeks ago we told you about a brand-new YouTube show we’re working on, New Player Challenges, featuring Mike LeBeau and Rhys Tirado. I’m delighted today to be able to show off the beautiful artwork and graphics that Guerilla (the design team behind the Rusty Quill logo and the artwork for our three new shows, Chapter and Multiverse, Trice Forgotten and Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later) have made for the show. And, if you can’t wait to watch, I’ve got some good news for you: NPC will launch publicly on 17th February, with Patreons at KNIGHTS+ tier getting early access on the 16th February! NPC will launch on a brand-new YouTube channel – so make sure to be the very first to follow Rusty Quill Video to get notifications every time we upload a new video. (Don't worry, our existing channel, Rusty Quill Podcasts, will remain where it is!)

(Image description. A purple rectangle. There are distorted squares of colour in each corner – these are pinks, greens and pale blues. Across the design are transparent emojis. The centre of the image is a ‘sticker’ with a controller design and text that reads: Rusty Quill presents: NPC New Player Challenges.)
It’s also a big month for the wider Rusty Quill Network family, as several shows launch their second season! Starting on 10th February sees the launch of season 2 of RQ Original Enthusigasm. We’re delighted to have regular episodes of Enthusigasm back. To start us on a high, join host Helen Gould and guests Karim Kronfli, Maddy Searle and Morgan L Davies as they talk about their love of Romanic Comedies. From the work of Nora Ephron to 10 Things I Hate About You, you’ll be surprised at how long it takes them to mention Hugh Grant.
Meanwhile, on the 15th February, horror anthology, The Town Whispers’second season begins. The Town Whispers is an eerie narrative podcast exploring the strange town known as The Fort. You can find out more about the show below, as creator and narrator, Cole Weavers, was kind enough to give us a short interview.
Finally, on 18th February The Milkman of St Gaff’s returns for their second season – we’ll talk more about this next week!
As mentioned above, we were lucky enough to grab five minutes with the creator and narrator of The Town Whispers, Cole Weavers, to ask him some questions about the show, podcasting in general and the upcoming season.
1. Tell us who you are and bit about your podcast
My name's Cole - I grew up in a rural suburb outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. My childhood was spent reading horror, and fantasy in equal parts... My mother spent my entire childhood encouraging me to partake in the arts, going so far as to drive us half an hour to and from our school - which was an oddity in terms of public education. From grade 1 through 12 students were taught art, dance, music, and drama. My father spent my childhood reading to me, and with me, instilling a great love of words.
2. What got you into podcasting?
I used to listen to reruns of 'The Shadow' on the local classic rock radio station on Sundays at 10 pm. I first heard it when I was driving with my father on our way back from my nana's house, and after that it felt like my little secret. My friends didn't know about it, and they wouldn't like it if they had learnt about it. It would have been old and "uncool", but that served me just fine. It felt like to belonged to me, and my father. I don't know why it seemed so special, but it was like a hidden piece of the world. That doesn't exactly answer the question in a direct way, but I suspect that memory has a lot to do with the why.
3. What are you most proud about The Town Whispers? What should we look forward to in season 2?
Without spoiling anything, I'm very proud of how we plan to elevate the show coming into season 2. Listeners will have to dive into the season themselves to see exactly how the show has changed, while still retaining its core concept and values, but what I can say is that our approach to Season 2 was to resolve some of the production compromises we made in order to be able to produce the amount of content we did. I believe deeply in a variety of artistic approaches, and ours leading into Season 1 was to approach it as if we were founding our own town, much like "The Fort" in The Town Whispers. We needed buildings and people, and stories, and history. Without a collection of experience the town would just be wooden bones hammered into place. Season 2 we are hoping to refine the experience, and dive more deeply into characters who will reveal themselves, instead of being as heavily narrated as they were in season 1.
You can listen to The Town Whispers wherever you find podcasts, or on their website, www.thetownwhispers.com. Season 2 starts on 15th February.
Over on our feeds, it’s a good week for fans of Rusty Quill Gaming, as part one of the long-awaited Post-Campaign Q&A comes out on Tuesday and the recording of last week’s Patreon live listen-along will be shared on Friday. Don’t forget, the second RQG mailbag will close on Friday, so please submit your questions before then to avoid disappointment.
Lastly, please see our weekly transcript update. As always, this is also available on our website.
Here is our Nineteenth Mini Transcript update.
Update 07/02/2022:
All going well, transcripts will be released next week.
Due to the nature of 3rd party transcription services and the complexity of the transcription and the recent reformatting these transcripts may include some specific errors. You can use the error form here to highlight any issues or raise any concerns.
We have currently completed 72 Stellar Firma transcript reformats.
The Magnus Archives is fully allocated and we are working to get all 200 main series episodes completely reformatted as soon as possible.
Rusty Quill Gaming is transcribed though some episodes need some further work and/or need double-checking.
We are working tirelessly to have these ready for release.
Also great news our new upcoming video project will release with transcripts!
