Westerns and Wallflowers
Added 2023-04-03 15:01:53 +0000 UTCHi folks,
We hope that you’ve had a wonderful week!
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Alex’s audio fiction jam stream on Friday. Alex had just two hours to write and create a pilot episode and full pitch for an audio drama, featuring suggestions and inspiration from chat. The voted-on genre was Western Noir, and Alex very, very quickly spun up the adventures of Sherriff Eliza Thorne, her wife Irene, the outlaw Grim and their dog, and the devious capitalist Elon Princeton. Featuring expert voice acting from special guest, April Sumner, questionable accents from Alex and the most unusual soundscape you’ll hear in podcasting, the stream is available to watch now on YouTube. Once again, thank you to everyone who donated to our Kickstarter who helped make this stretch goal happen; we hope you enjoyed seeing Alex’s creative process in action.
On the topic of Kickstarter, we have completed the BackerKit phase of the project. This means we will now be able to begin shipping various add-ons during May as well as preparing some personalised rewards. Thank you to everyone who purchased additional items and/or made donations at this stage. We continue to be humbled by your generous support. We can also confirm that we have been able to mark out Patreon supporters who backed the Kickstarter for giving extra rewards. We will be checking emails soon to verify accounts.
If you have not yet completed your BackerKit survey please do so ASAP.
Next up, we just wanted to let you know we released our 2023 Operations Update at the end of last week. This includes some updates on our RQ Originals, and the unfortunate news we don’t have plans to continue projects such as Chapter and Multiverse or New Player Challenges. Specifically, we are concentrating on our upcoming shows Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later, The Magnus Protocol and Neon Inkwell over the next 12 months. All of our completed shows will still be available to listen to, or watch, for free on podcast players and YouTube. Our Operations Update is available to read here. Thank you so much for your support over the last year.
Finally, on Friday Rusty Knights and Nobles can enjoy another episode of Enthusigasm! This week, the effervescent Helen Gould is joined by Annie Fitch, Cole Weavers and Sydney Greve as they discuss Young Adult fiction! From the history of the genre, Discworld, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I’ll Give You The Sun and The Raven Cycle.
Have a good week all!

2023-04-04 09:34:56 +0000 UTCFirst KS reward stream was amazing! I love flash fiction so much, really really valuable and fun creative exercise. Got me so pumped for all of the other stuff we unlocked too :D I already said this on Twitter but I’m glad that we got to enjoy Streams, NPC and Chapter while they lasted, they were excellent. But its also wonderful to support a company that cares about its employees enough to make those hard decisions. Sometimes no amount of planning is enough, circumstances change and people need to come first. I know everything still on the docket is going to be incredible :3 And I still have some hope for more Trice, yay! Fingers crossed! Hope everyone had a lovely and restful weekend, and that April is beginning on a high note! x

2023-04-03 17:42:36 +0000 UTCThank you for the operations update! I understand the decision to slow things down a bit and hope this will be more sustainable for everyone! I’m excited for Cry Havoc and Neon Inkwell, and like many others, I am very much crossing my fingers for more Trice Forgotten at some point! (I miss Siva and Alestes and Anh already 😭) As someone who used to be really into YA and still LOVES certain series with all my heart, I’m really excited for this week’s Enthusigasm! Can’t wait to be catapulted back to my 2014 self for an hour!

2023-04-03 17:34:57 +0000 UTCThe stream was SO fun! Truly fascinating and so impressive to see Alex's process in action (and hilarious to see it zoomed through this fast). That sure... was... some sound effects... 😂 Special thanks to April for her wonderful contributions (impromptu voice acting and background giggles). On a much more sobering note, I appreciate the operations update as well; even though none of that is surprising, and that can't have been fun for anyone, I do appreciate the clarity about RQ's situation, actions, plans, and where each RQ Original stands as of now. Sad but not surprised re: Chapter (my babies... ;v;) and continuing to cross fingers and toes for TF to be able to go on... in the meantime, the teasers for Cry Havoc! and Neon Inkwell have definitely piqued my interested and I'm excited to see what they bring us. HECK yeah to an EGSM about YA, cannot wait to hear some good good unabashed glee, esp from Helen and Annie 😁

2023-04-03 17:15:02 +0000 UTCWhile it is sad that you are dropping some shows, I for once am delighted in your plans as it seems that there will be more content of interest to me. I never cared much about either New Player Challenges or Chapter and Multiverse but I am eagerly awaiting both Neon Inkwell (its premise will probably allow me to listen to it quicker - as the stories will be tinier) and - especially - The Magnus Protocol (I am planning on making an exception in my routine of not starting podcasts before they have been fully published - this is probably the biggest endorsment for a podcast company on my part). Cry Havoc also seems right up my alley but I will be waiting for it to finish anyway. As for the stream - it was brilliant and so relatable (especially when Alex was searching for the keyboard shortcuts in Audacity - as someone who is very reliant on muscle memory while working on the computer I felt it just viscerally) and the resulting pitch was quite interesting and I would love to listen to it produced in its entirety.

2023-04-03 16:52:43 +0000 UTCThank you for these updates! The stream was delightful chaos and really interesting at the same time on a creative standpoint: deciding the core elements on the fly and throwing tropes at the wall and quickly deciding what sticks really highlighted how well-put the actual RQ originals have been, by contrast! (Oh, hell. The result was incredibly fun already ^^) Crossing fingers for more Trice Forgotten, and good luck with the next podcasts on the line – hoping that all goes as smoothly as possible given current times for all of them!
