Enthusigasm - Young Adult (YA) Fiction

In this week's Enthusigasm episode, Annie, Cole, Helen, and Sydney talk about young adult fiction! There are tangents galore as we discuss the books we read growing up, the differences between book and film adaptations, and why some of us are still reading these books despite officially being Old Adults. Plus, Helen provides a crash course on bizarre British school traditions.

Enthusigasm - Young Adult (YA) Fiction

Comments

You probably won't see this a month later, but--- Thank you so much for defining YA correctly. One of my pet peeves is people calling middle grade books YA. Let the kids have their fiction!

Also, yes British schools were/are divided into houses, with colours and house points and competitions, we had strct uniforms, prefects, head boy/girl, etc. Perfectly normal stuff all of it... erm...

Mother of Ferrets

Please please please have a Discworld /Pratchett episode!! His work is just so amazing. Each time I reread his books I notice something new & clever in there.

Having listened to the whole show now, I still feel confident in my take. Also, no such thing as "Google gives too much information".

Melissa Raney

Hot take: James Cameron's Titanic was YA fiction. 😜

I was going to come back and leave some additional comments, but I just hit that closing section and I am laughing so hard I'm wheezing, so I may need a moment to recover first.

I just started to listen, and had to pause and run here to comment how much I love that Enthusigasm is a show threaded through with so much genuine laughter. It's been a long week (it's often a long week), but getting to transition off work mode into weekend yay with listening to something fun where all the people involved are so clearly having a great time really makes me so happy. Thank you, Helen, and thank you all your awesome guests and the production crew and everyone else involved - each of these episodes feels like such a gift.
