We we’re definitely surprised but more in a “wow without a lot of words” kind of way, they really pulled off a hard feat by not going the traditional route but still making a fantastic film

2023-12-29 00:13:42 +0000 UTCYou guys didn’t seem all that surprised at the abrupt ending. We’re so conditioned for the big third act battle with the final boss. But Thanos gets killed *offscreen* and poor Tommy Lee Jones spent the whole movie one step behind the killer, never accomplishing a single thing or affecting the plot in any way. No country for old men, indeed.

2023-12-28 22:38:27 +0000 UTCThe fact that the Coen Brothers wrote and directed this and Big Lebowski shows off their incredible range. You guys have to do Fargo at some point too. Those three are widely considered their best. Very very few directors would think to add something like all the boot scuffs on the floor after the cop gets strangled. Those are the details that make you fully buy-in to the world of the film.
