Don't overlook one of the most significant aspects of the Alien movie series. Up until these movies, most female leads had nothing to do but stand there and scream. Ripley is scared out of her mind, but she doesn't freeze, she doesn't scream, she takes action. (Counterpoint - Kim Basinger in the first Batman, who did nothing much but - you guessed it - scream). That was huge for those of us women who wanted to see women fighting bad guys too. This led directly to Terminator 2, where Linda Hamilton got to be the badass. (Also directed by James Cameron)

2024-03-06 07:48:00 +0000 UTCThere are 2 sequels to this that I haven’t seen all of because I hadn’t heard good things. Then they restarted the franchise with Prometheus a prequel which I thought was good and then Covenant a sequel to Prometheus. There is supposed to be an Alien limited series coming out soon that would also be a prequel. This movie is a good action movie and a good sequel. I still think Terminator 2 is James Cameron’s greatest sequel.
