What a wonderful moment of pure happiness you wrote for the first time into this story for the Carvescians and didn't destroy it in the next moment by an 'arrow'. But that Finnigan was the dying patient made up to return the story in it's gloominess at least. Sadly I see in the next chapter a huge emotional bomb exploding and that will be Finnigan as he either dies or more possible they find out that he really is the spy they were searching for thus completely destroying Luther's conscions (of course that would explain why they burn the hatching grounds as this betrayal will encite even Johannes enough to leave his moral standards behind).

Wow that one I didn't even see. But you are quite right that this could be a connecting touch as Carvecia would be the US on Earth and Kyell never named the continet in his books (all of them from the Forrester universe) as far as I can remember.

Damn, i did not expect it to be Finnegan in that bed. I now get why Luther is with him each day and feeling so horrible. So happy for Puck/Ransome but feeling so bad for Luther at the same time. The feels !

I think you are quite right about the mental communication. If the basiliscs are unable to speak and they don't even growl or make any other kind of sound that means the Cathzara wouldn't be able to command them in any way so they need a way of conversing and thatc an only mean nonverbal. But that is just the point the Amurescans are unable to see that is too far out of their beliefs to be possible. Hopefully the Carvescians (Puck, Ransom, Magpie and Shivah) can point that out to them before everything goes down the drain.

I read this perhaps faster than any of the other chapters. Thank God! The name Finnegan was bugging me, though, and I had this creeping sense that I knew him. Went all the way back to Chapter 10 of Heretic, but I found him, and I swear I had to cover my mouth to stop a scream. Rukis, you have a real talent for weaving emotional tales, and putting those mental images to paper. Keep going!

Oh.. Puck can see.. Thats wonderful news. However poor Finn. I had only just finished reading Heretic again and his gentle humor at making Luther at ease at the captains meeting. I maybe on a limb here.. But if a Basilisk cannot communicate verbally - maybe they can communicate mentally. Now that could be a real disaster for the colony.
