Definition of Odium: "general or widespread hatred or disgust directed toward someone as a result of their actions." So the god of extreme, deep hatred for a reason, vs. Ruin was more the god of Entropy and Preservation the god of Stasis. Both Ruin and Odium are negative entities, but they have different aspects. I do love that it's Odium and not just the God of Hate (although that's a pretty intimidating concept that Sanderson must of have started with). Wait until you get to "Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell." which might be the most hardcore novella name in all of the genre.

That being said, as someone that read the first three Stormlight books before anything else in the Cosmere, it was done in a way that I never noticed on my first read.
