One Minute Hero - My Mix Attempt
Added 2020-08-25 16:31:59 +0000 UTCYesterday, I posted the multitrack session for my track ONE MINUTE HERO which I recorded about five years ago in Prague.
I mentioned that this is a pretty challenging track to mix as it was recorded in a small space but would rather be a piece to record in a larger space. Getting it acoustically "to size" in the mix is actually a quite challening undertaking as simply slapping reverb on it will not cut it as many mic signals have early reflections that give away the room size.
Today I had a bit of time to try to mix it myself. I didn't reference back to the mix from 2015 which had been done by Gareth Williams but followed my (current) personal taste. It turned out a bit brighter than the mix from five years ago, which also is a bit louder and has a bit more warmth around the lower mids. The mix from 2015 is attached at the bottom of the post.
I'm currently a bit torn between which of the two I prefer and would probably need a day of distance to decide.
Anyway, it was fun revisiting that track and diving into mixing it, hope you're enjoying playing around with the multritrack as well.
