AUGUST end of month post

Hey everyone! Sorry for being a day behind.

This month I spent a lot of time doing manager tasks. I'm basically herding cattle and setting up the studio workflow for the new timeline. I'm thinking of even doing our first office handbook soon so new folks can get up to speed quicker. A lesson I learned from the new folks. And I'll need it soon because we have a new writer joining the team! But more on that later. Let's get into it!

Timeline!

I finally got the timeline down. As most things, stuff is subject to change but this is what we will be aiming for.

 The main goal is to release End of Knights on steam early access in 2025. It's been 5 years that I've been working on this game and it's time to show more people what this team has been cooking on. We've been working setting up for this dev cycle as we wanted to make sure to be ready to work on a real schedule for this push and for other games after. EOK 0.0.25 will end up bigger than what I had planned for. Because of that, I'm getting the whole team to stop the side projects and focus on this. A lot has changed over this year that we need to address. Patreon is becoming more unfriendly to NSFW projects and the state of America is getting crazy. Also someone already released a game called End of Knights this year. ( Which btw we'll add a sub title to our game, not a big deal. EOK: Fallen Kingdom? ) Anyhow the main point is that it feels like we need to get this game out sooner rather than later. We feel pretty confident that we can achieve this new goal.

Coding

We just finished killing a bunch of bugs and even that dumb armor bug. (We might release a quick bug update just to get more people testing for it to make sure it's really dead.) The game already feels more solid with the work that Minle has done and our new coder is almost done with the team selector system. With this in place, you'll be able to access the duel combat, we've had just collecting dust. (We'll do a test run for duel combat as well at some point.)

Art

The art department has been working on the storyboard for the new intro and the concept for part 2 of chapter one. I'll be releasing a overview of the chapter that to you folks sometime soon so you can see where the game is going. I've been working over time on improving my art and I'm pretty excited to show off what I've learned. I've been doing those animations experiments and I finally feel like I can finish off the new bosses and finally finish updating Avina's new combat moves. I'm going to have our new artist help me with some of the frames and some art assets for promotional parts of the game as well. We also can't wait to show off all the new item art in game. There's also a lot of art that needs to be updated since my style has changed a lot over the 5 years. We know that some of the scenes need some work.

New Person 

We got a new writer! As such I'll be moving Brandi to focus writing on the story chapters and lore while our new writer does the NSFW writing and any other writing we need. It's great that we now have a writing department. I'll be posting the new folks soon and updating our credits list. (I know I've promised a new meet the team post but every time I make progress on it we got a new person!)

That's about it for this update. I'll be starting my own personal crunch mode to get this game out in December. (Don't worry, I'm the only one doing this not the team.) So I will be more active on the discord. Also don't forget to check the discord as I post wip art and other fun info about game dev. Keep an eye out for some posts this month and our mid-month post.
