Dear Patrons,
The last few copies of our first limited edition Art prints are on their way!
Each year we select one artwork of FAA Collective Artists and produce a limited edition Art print that is exclusive to our Art Collector tier subscribers.
We thank our supporters and, as we get ready to produce next years print, we would like to share with you the story behind the limited edition art print of 2020/21.
Portrait of Elisa, by Daniel Graves, Founder and Director of the Florence Academy of Art, is the inspiring drawing behind this print. Drawn in charcoal and white chalk on light grey Canson paper, Daniel produced the work in 2013.

Portrait of Elisa
Charcoal and white chalk on Canson paper, 2013
This print is part of a limited edition of 100, printed in Florence, and created using the highest quality materials and digital techniques in order to reproduce as closely as possible the original master work.
The original drawing is part of the FAA’s permanent collection, and hangs in Susan Tintori's office, The Florence Academy of Art’s Executive Director. Daniel and Susan have worked together since 1994 to build The Florence Academy of Art. She considers this to be one of Daniel’s most beautiful pieces, and chose to have it close by so she could admire it everyday.

Before working on large scale projects, Daniel often starts a portrait of the model to get to know them better. The model portrayed in the drawing, Elisa Morucci, is a young Italian actress and is also the inspiration for Daniel’s painting, The Power of Wisdom and Beauty.
The painting was originally intended as a portrait of Elisa in an elaborate costume. It was while painting her that Daniel discovered her love of owls and that she has created a small sanctuary for wounded owls at her home! Daniel decided the painting would depict not only Elisa’s timeless beauty, but also the eternal symbol of wisdom.
