We are very excited to present you with our second challenge: Landscape painting!
From today JULY 18TH to SEPTEMBER 5TH we will be accepting entries of a landscape either drawn or painted in any medium.
Send a high resolution jpg to social@florenceacademyofart.com. Please include your full name, the size, title and medium of the artwork, and feel free to include a short artist bio - we want to learn more about who you are! And let us know something about the scene - where are you?
One winner will receive an ART PRINT, and, along with the two runners-up, will receive shoutouts on The Florence Academy of Art and The FAA Collective on social media! Winners will be announced September 19th by email.
In Western and Eastern traditions for centuries, the landscape has been a constant subject for artists. Each in their preferred medium, whether ink on paper or oil on canvas, painters have sought to capture the impression of nature’s elements, from topographical renderings of a specific terrain to romantic rain-laden clouds over dark seas. There are few subjects like landscape that leave both the artist and viewer free to interpret the scene before them. Students at FAA use their studies in the model room and with the still life when composing and painting a landscape. They will translate and record directly from nature, using the same materials as in the studio, and incorporating the same approach: observing big shapes to design within a pictorial space.
