hey folks. thanks for the patience last month, i think i'm back on track now.
i'm just gonna put the most important update-relevant thing up front first so anybody not interested in rambling can skip the rest of this. i was going to try switching to weekends this month, but made the choice to put it off for at least another month. while considering it, i did figure out how i would make "weekends" WORK on a schedule that has me doing stuff every day.
basically, i might switch back and forth between "a week off" or "weekend month." for the latter, i'm going to spread out every "missed" update that a week off at the beginning of the month would account for instead.
so like... one week where fresh meat wouldn't update, one week where there's no stream, one week where the side comic doesn't update, and then a week of full updating, switched around depending on the month's week layout. i'll make it clear what's happening in the beginning of the month update regardless.
so that's all, the rest is skippable.

i'm taking the standard week off because since starting to address the problem with sleep, i've been sleeping for really long periods of time, which i'm not exactly surprised by.
usually i'll still wake up fatigued, but it goes away once i get some breakfast in me and have a walk to get my body up and running. it can be hard to tell when i'm just tired from being unconscious for so long vs i needed more. i know that oversleeping also makes you tired, so i usually get up once i wake up past the 8-hours-of-sleep mark.
sounds very luxurious but i'm hoping to not spend my entire week here just sleeping... i'm personally not usually big into sleeping, it isn't pleasant for me.
i'm gonna try to at least thumbnail every fresh meat page during this week to prevent mishaps later in the month. the side comic i've thumbnailed in advance is also gonna start, so i am going to get to see how well this method works in an actual trial run. i thumbed a few pages of familial, but they were spaced out instances.
i do still feel like i get more done in the days even though they're shorter currently just because i think and draw more efficiently, either way.
i knew this from how i functioned when i pulled all-nighters for drop-out deadlines -- i could see after some point that i actually finished earlier with stronger art on the page if i bit the bullet and slept. in this case, it wasn't really a choice to not sleep.

i'm also gonna try to get commissions done up this week, but because i'm not technically supposed to be working anyway, i don't wanna lock myself into promising they'll be done by the end of the week. i just figured i'd throw in a soft update about those.
the other things that i have partially done that i also wanna try working on over the week:
-all of the tutorials from july's streams
-this random other tutorial that's basically a lot of quick tips for art rather than a lecture
-the overview/thoughts post on familial stranger
-some sketch comics i've had written/half-done
-another different post for the $10 tier about writing comics specifically and some thoughts i've been having on pacing and why comics end up being a lot longer than you think they will
obviously i'm not gonna get them ALL done, but i'd also like to let y'all know that i've been working on other stuff besides the bare minimum expected of me just to post here.

my mom is also gonna be visiting for... i don't know how long, at the end of this month. i'm sure she's gonna be pulling me away from the computer a lot on a whim, so i'm sorry in advance if it fucks with making any updates on time.
i HAVE been testing new ways of approaching the process of making comic pages even before knowing this that mostly let me work in smaller chunks by having extra mental work done preemptively, so we're gonna see if that lives up to what it's supposed to by preparing in advance.

poll will be up in a bit, that's all i think. thanks again for the support and patience.
