fresh meat, page 63

so i finished this page's flats on like... monday, i think. i guess it slipped my mind to upload it, though. 64's being lined today, so the flats for that page might go up tomorrow, too.

anyway, for this scene... it was a lot different in the script. after reviewing the progress of the story, i didn't think the point it made originally needed to be repeated. i DID want a lunch scene, though, so i changed the content rather than scrapping the scene entirely and moving on to the next one. as i'd written it at first, this scene was only meant to highlight tabitha's continued disappearance and have the characters conjecture over her situation to provoke kim's curiosity for now. i try to keep audience frustration in mind when pacing stories, which was a big factor in why i wanted to keep a lunch scene here.
initially, whittacker was going to be sitting at the table. i felt like my best options were, now that lupe's been introduced, cramming her at this table, or making whittacker move to a separate table with lupe and removing them both from lunchtime. i went with the latter because it felt more believable, and i really didn't want to draw that many people at the table because it is brutal.
removing whittacker from the scene meant that it probably wasn't going to be mentioned that whittacker has the same psychiatrist assigned to her as kim. i'm still toying with sugar mentioning it at some point in this scene. i'm going to focus on the fact that the scene is meant to start pushing kim's advancement forward though.
carmilla was also supposed to blow off this lunch for a TV show because whittacker puppy-guards the TV. however, because carmilla has only been consuming blood packs she has to trade with other characters so far, i figured it would be more believable that she wouldn't skip a meal under any circumstances -- i definitely needed more than sugar at the table, because sugar's already tried her best to explain what she thinks will help.

anyway, that's all i have to say so far.
