MUSIC UPDATE ・ CASTING

As the saying goes, we've got good news and bad news. Let's start with the bad one since most people usually like to get that out of the way.

Our music guy AARAS who's worked on the exceptional soundtrack of fault milestone two : side above has officially left ALICE IN DISSONANCE. For the record, there was absolutely 0 tension or bitterness from either parties. He just needed to focus on other things asides from music and I know how that is. Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and set aside what you love to do to do things that you have to do. (Another reminder that we here at AiD should never take our situation for granted and thank you all for making our lives possible). We wish him the very best. He will be missed.

Now the good news. This may sound odd and obvious but this means we get to work with new people. And that's always welcome news.

Finding good staff is hard though, especially when we have to start with an introduction so we thought we would ask here, on Patreon, to see if someone is up for the challenge. I thought this might be prudent because you guys know the series, afterall. That's why you're here! So before we start hunting for people in our connections, I wanted to ask if anyone here wanted to join our circle and become the new musician for ALICE IN DISSONANCE.

AARAS was, like I said above, quite freaking exceptional. His musical contribution solidified much of ms2a's emotional moments and I don't think too many people will disagree. Those are some big ass shoes to fill to say the least, but if you think you can do it, please PM us! Or better yet, send us a sample of something you're proud of. (for example, AARAS immediately grabbed our attention by making the title theme music 残響 pro-bono (we weren't gonna respond to him at all initially) and it was the most amazing thing ever).

Word of warning: fault is very string heavy and I'd like to keep it that way, so it might be a tough call if you can't do cello/violin type music. Piano is also a definite must. I mean, you've seen ms2a so you should be pretty familiar with the type of music we're going for.

Thank you all for your attention.

PS Also, yes, you will be paid. We can talk money once everything settles down though I think the next milestone for our Patreon here should give you a good ballpark.

Yikes. It's sad that AARAS left. However thank you very much to AARAS for all the wonderful music he made for fault. I... kind of hoped that he return one day and perhaps collaborate with the new music person. That would be great!

Silvernine

AARAS was kind enough to give us the rights to every single track. It's AiD's music, we can use it however we want. (I can't imagine not being able to reuse tracks like the title screen music, Rune's theme, and Ode... that would be quite devastating

ALICE IN DISSONANCE

I'm not that worried, really. I mean, if you compare ms1 with ms2a by a music standard, I think it's pretty easy to see which is superior. That said, I wonder if you guys still own all the music from ms2a? Would you be able to use any of it in future games, or would you need AARAS for that?

Jericho Drakane

Your worry is slightly unwarranted. We did fine without him in ms1. We can always just buy music if worst comes to worst. No offense to guys at Dishchan (we dont know them at all) but we're not gonna just drop everything because we got sick of making fault. So don't worry too much!

ALICE IN DISSONANCE

I guess the downside to being a patreon here is getting updates like this that make you worry about the future. Still, I believe that the team will pick the right person. (actually, this kinda reminds me of the issues that Dischan had with their Kickstarter, though not quite THAT bad)

Jericho Drakane

Ouch. The music in milestone one was of course very good but music was one of the areas where milestone two improved the most. AARAS will be sorely missed.

temppatreonname

Conservatively speaking somewhere north of five times the budget. I suspect it would be a lot more than that but it's hard to say by how much short of asking the label. That's assuming they're interested, which seems unlikely.

Kureha

I felt that the music was one of the strongest parts of fault, so I'm sad, but I'll try to remain optimistic. How much would someone like Yuki Kajiura cost? /s

I wish you all the best finding a new music person! I've listened to Rune's Theme almost 150 times while working on different things, the soundtrack I'd fantastic and it makes me really glad you guys are keeping to the theme of the soundtrack!

Richard

Sorry to hear that, and hopefully you guys will be able to solve the matter without too much trouble

Chastlys

*insert darth vadar noooo meme* ugh this sucks to lose something so important.. so vial to Fault! The music for fault was the best (btw the soundtracks are still amazing).. this is very troubling.. i wish i could help you guys but im not a musician. Is there a way that we can use the current milestone to find a new musician? I wish you the best of luck finding someone new, i know it can be very difficult finding new people. I'll see if i can ask my friends about this but i dont think i know anyone who does Music professionally though, unfortunately. Btw not trying to sound harsh here but these things can happen. P.S that emoticon scares me..

Bytes487

Hey Munisix, if you guys are needing a musician I can help with some voluntary compositions. Most of my time is focused on my animation studies at Uni but I'm often playing with music in my spare time so would be good to have some specific direction to put my music into if you would be interested. You guys already follow me on Soundcloud so you are probably familiar with some of my works but here is a couple https://soundcloud.com/mitch-winchcombe/ethereal https://soundcloud.com/mitch-winchcombe/cello-1

Damn. I'm sorry to hear about that. His music is what really got me to love MS2 the way I did. But I am hopeful as well; who knows what great talent is out there just waiting to get their chance. And for that guy/gal, good luck out there! :D

Whimsee

Awh, sorry to hear that. :< Hope the next person to fill his shoes will be just as great, though! Good luck with the search!

Nari Kim

AARAS was awesome and it's a shame to see him go. I wish him the best in his new path. Hopefully you guys can find someone just as talented as him for the next installments of Fault!

BloodySeraph

We're going to leave the milestone for now and use it for the new person. Might have the edit the amount depending on how much they want though. All good as long as we can find someone that's talented and can get along well.

ALICE IN DISSONANCE

The next milestone was to get AARAS fulltime right? So will that milestone be edited or just go to the new member? Also, it is sad to lost a member, but as you said working with new people is awesome too. Sadly I have no musical bones, but I wish you luck finding someone.
