Ista Vilserio everyone!
While Hare is working on the second "fault cam girls" and canvas arts... I've come to bring you some big and interesting news about MS1 and it's porting situation.
It feels like it's been forever since I've written a post... most likely because there's a bunch of stuff happening under the hood that I can't quite discuss yet but today, I got permission to share something exciting/unnerving with just our Patrons because thats how this relationship works.
BUT. I have to stress the "just our patrons" part more than usual because that was the deal with all parties involved (though to be honest, I'm not quite sure what needs to be so secretive about it.. but I digress). Also, I need to note that the following information is "technically" tentative so there is a chance that it might not happen... but I wouldn't be writing this post if I thought that was plausible. Just please keep this within the patron's community. Thank you in advance.
So here's the news..
Many of you already have probably noticed that the MS1 Playstation port is taking way longer than it should be. As a matter of fact, it was supposed to be done over a year ago and the situation has not gotten any better over time (until now). I'm not going to point fingers as to why it's taking so long... let's just say that there were a series of very, very, unfortunate events that took place that's left us stranded for far too long. MS1's porting situation has been a massive headache for myself and the team. It was probably the number 1 ass pain that was eating away at my mental state in 2017 (more than StP being delayed, can you imagine?).
Because of this, I was forced to make some difficult decisions... but I believe the results turned out rather exciting:
Currently exclusive to console releases, we have partnered up with SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT JAPAN (or SME for short) and their UNITES indies label to bring all of the fault series including Mhakna over to the XBOX ONE, Playstation Store which will include PS4 PS4 Pro and Vita, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Sekai Project and SME will be cooperating to full-fill all Kickstarter conditions so the end user will receive everything that they were promised.
This is a massive change and a push. Much larger than what we were expecting initially. In fact it's probably safe to say that the PC market + console is pretty much the entire demographic. Excluding the elusive Chinese gaming market that is currently notorious for being difficult to break into, this is fault's final frontier when it comes to the conventional gaming market. Quite exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time to say the least.
Now, this deal opens a few things up on the Steam side as well. Remember the Patrons MS1 Vita build we shared with you all a while back? Well, that build has been sitting on the shelf doing a metric fuck-ton of precisely nothing. It's awesome material that could have been shown to hundreds and thousands of new time fault players in the past year, just going to absolute waste. Infuriating. BUT, throughout negotiations with SME and Sekai Project. we have found a way to make other exclusive content for the Vita. This frees us up to release the MS1 Vita build to Steam now (!) Which is exactly what we are going to do. We will be holding a sale that starts on the 26th and this version of milestone one will go live to the public. Digital party hats for everyone.
4K assets, shiny new coat of paint (much art works) and more. If you're interested in all the changes you can find em if you search the ms1 tag. This new version will be the default .. uhh. fault. Yeah. Default fault. And it will be 100% free. Older versions will be on the branch and users will have the ability to roll back to them if they wish to do so, so that should satisfy 99.9% of the people out there.
And yeah. That's about it. I'm still kinda flustered about the whole ordeal, even though we've been talking with SME for some time now. This paves the way for StP and MS2b having a much larger audience when the 2 titles are complete (oh and as a side note, the series has an activation/sales count of 420k now!!).
They (SME) have been extremely courteous and gracious with our requests. No matter what your opinion is about SONY in general, the name does provide a certain level of confidence and we are happy to work with them. There are still many unknowns though... but I'll make sure to keep you all in the loop as things progress. The rest of 2018 is going to be one hell of a trip....
... and we're glad you're all here with us for the ride.
