Hey everyone...
First off, I'm really sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've been dealing with a lot of personal/family issues for the past few months which has made focusing on work impossible. I wish I could get into this a bit more... but I'm currently still going through it right now and I feel like I'm going to write things I will regret so it's probably better I refrain...
Because of this onslaught of mental drainage, the script I was suppose to finish in a month went on hiatus for a few weeks. There were days were I just couldn't get out of bed or eat anything... I've started to recover now but everything is not quite as it was initially. The good news is, I've been able to muster some engery to start writing. That was the beginning of this month. Progress is now 70% till competition...
I asked the team to take the time off during this time. I didn't want them to do work that might just get thrown out at the end. I feel like I've lost the ability to communicate with our audience as I don't remember the last time i spoke to a real human outside of our small little bubble.
Now for some good news.. with the script crawling to completion, Hare-san was able to knock out elements that were 100% going to make it into the final game. This Hamamura map is the last map we needed to make for MS2b, and it's coming along nicely. Here are some screenshots from a couple of weeks ago.

They look a bit janky here because theres no post processing effects on it, but in the end it should look polished like the bar. Since we're here doing a show and tell, lets look back at the original assets we had when this whole thing was still a visual novel.

Can you believe we threw all this shit out so we can make a game-y game 🫠 It wasn't exactly a waste though, since we're probably gonna still use it to some extent and it worked as an excellent reference art when making the models.
Heres some from this week:

Creating outdoor environments for MS2b has been a bit of a challenge since we've been focusing mostly on interiors until now... Lighting stuff outside requires a completely different set of skills and eye... especially since this town has very little artificial lights so it’s hard to add motivational lighting. Time to juggle writing, directing, and lighting again. It is nice to be able to lean into environmental effects though... like rain and thunder.
Also we gotta make that wierd looking curved tree. That tree and the giant blackhead looking building are the 2 things that make this area iconic.
Okay, brain is no longer working.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding. I want to actually show you guys Hamamura working in motion so I’ll update relatively soon again.
