I am one that believes that this episode marks Meruem's final transition into being human. The segment where he says there will be no punishment for Pouf and he wishes Welfin will be able to live as a human are what convinced me. He shows true empathy towards Pouf, even though Pouf betrayed the King at every step of the road these last 20 episodes Meruem knows that Pouf did it with good intentions and out of a misguided love and loyalty. However Meruem wishing Welfin well is an even bigger sign of self awareness. When confronted with someone saying he is the enemy and denying his status as king of their kind, instead of lashing out to reassert dominance Meruem simply digests the statement, understands it, recognizes he and the ants are very much the villains in many people's lives. Then, with no ill will, he sends Welfin on his way with real hope that Welfin completes his goal and can live peacefully. Meruem is one of the BEST characters ever written. He fully and completely fulfills the role of antagonist in the main character's story and protagonist in his own story. His personal effect on the narrative and his own character arc prove this.

Big reason the Rose poison is deadly is because it is contagious. It's more akin to a biological weapon or super virus with an initial explosion.

Every ant in this arc goes through a process of humanization. The only "pure" ant is Pouf. Meruem by now is 100% human.

All the changes that happened to Meruem, Youpi and Pitou are gradual and obvious so it kind of saddens me that they haven't realized what is really happening (especially the parallels between Meruem and Gon). Until now, I feel like they still just see Pitou as the evil but loyal guard who got what she deserved and Meruem as the OP King who happened to like a human girl but still an evil creature that must be killed eventually. Edit: I didn't mean that the reactors "didn't understood anything", I just meant like they're still missing some important points in the story. I'm sorry if my comment made it seem that way. I also completely understand that this is their first time seeing the series, so it's natural that they missing anything.

One interesting thing to think about Pouf is that he's just as loyal to the King as the other guards, but he's loyal to the "ideal of a King", rather than Meruem himself.

i think you guys missed the point of Meruem character development. Hes clearly wavering towards being human, For example he told Pouf to interrogate Knuckle and to release him after. Meruem before hearing Komugi name wouldve never did that, also him telling Welfin he should live as a human with Gyro. Stuff like that he would never do those things before

The poison from the bomb is definitely radiation poisoning. If you are exposed to high amounts of radiation, then you will also emit radiation and poison those around you. In this episode they never explicitly call it radiation poisoning. But the explanation of how it spreads and it being the result of a large bomb is intended to make it clear. I'm surprised that there are many people that didn't realize that exposure to radiation works the same way they describe the poison in this episode spreading.

He is much more towards human than ant. The last few things he said was to showcase that. He told welfin he hopes welfin finds gyro and lives a happy life as a human. The gravity of those words, considering the malicious king he is supposed to be, is masterpiece in character development.
