Yoooo I know Part 2 is a pain to edit because these movies are so long. Even harder for the second and third film with such good parts. What all do I need to do to offer my editing assistance for the upcoming movies? I imagine all I need are the assets, guidelines you guys always go with in terms of editing, and less important but which program is typically being used to edit the videos. I could probably do a sample. I don’t know. lol

For any of you Normies who are super nerds (like me) about seeing the way a movie gets made, you should take some time and watch the special features of the extended editions. If you have access to them (they come with the box set of the DVDs, I'm not sure about streaming) you can actually watch documentaries that they filmed behind the scenes as the movies were being made. You can watch interviews with Peter Jackson, his wife, the writers, the cast, the visual and special effects creators, the props and costume designers, set designers and location scouts, all of them talk about how their part of the movie got done. It's truly incredible, and I HIGHLY recommend it. You learn all sorts of cool facts about the filming of the trilogy. It was a one-of-a-kind experience. Can't wait to see the rest of your reactions to all these movies!

Part of me really wants them to jump straight into the extended editions. but they are very very very long lol. I saw The Two Towers in theaters 5 or 6 times.

My favorite film trilogy of ALL TIME. Apologies to the original Star Wars trilogy, first three Indy films, and The Godfather trilogy, but... no, not even close. These films defined my childhood and the extended cut (as well as the massive 'making of' features therein) inspired me to want to go to film school. Whether nostalgia still plays a huge factor or not, every time I watch these films, I am transported to another state of being. Mind you, I watch them once a year. Yeah. From cinematography, set design, editing, Howard Shore's legendary film score, the ensemble cast, the costume design, makeup, creature design, effects and art direction... ALL OF IT IS AMAZING! This makes me so happy, thank you Suraj and the Normies. And huge thanks to the editor. This is a really hard series to edit and they're doing amazing so far.

Oh, THE EFFECTS OF THE LOTR STILL HOLD UP DUDE. Even when it was released and made in 2003, it was a cultural reset back then. The effects in some new movies right now would never be on this level. Just saying hahaha

I am so excited for this!! LOTR was my obsession in highschool. I saw the movies 7 times on theaters...EACH. My room was decorated floor to ceiling with memorabilia. And I can ONLY watch the extended cut.

Oh damn......I agree with this. I misunderstood completely. I thought they meant the 2nd movie (The Two Towers).....oh that sucks. I know time is a factor, but they should have filmed this epic series when they knew they had the time to watch the movie in its entirety. Hype has died down a little now simply because it feels like a disservice. I get you and I are being irritable (probably unnecessarily complaining), but that's just how it feels.

I definitely feel like Francis Ford Coppola's "Dracula" was a big influence on the style and visuals Jackson went with for LOTR. If you look up clips from it you might see what I mean. (or maybe I'm reaching, I dunno)

I don't think Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson went to the same school or have any connection (Sam Raimi is American, Jackson is from NZ). I think the confusion here is because one of Peter Jackson's early movies is "Dead Alive" (or Brain Dead), a zombie horror comedy that has a reputation among horror fans as one of the most disgusting films of all time. (it's so gross, but very, very funny)

Love these movies so much, but the timeline is harder to follow in the movies. Between Frodo getting the ring and Gandalf showing back up at his house to tell him to test it in the first is like 17 years. And it took Frodo and Sam a month to get to Rivendell

This movie was released in 2001 not 2003. Lol All the scenes were shot from 1999 to 2000 and then were edited and the movies were released subsequently in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

I only watched theatrical until high school when my history teacher played the extended films in his classroom for anyone who wanted to chill there during lunch hours. Literally I can’t go back. Like, the theatrical cut is great but the extended just adds so much enjoyable content.
