A LOT is finally coming together, and a Press Kit.

Last week saw us finally meeting a good number of goals:

1: The new player controller has finally been brought into the main scene.  There still remain a few functions to be added, and the camera currently follows the cats a bit TOO closely - note the tilt on the camera:

2: The final building  is being addressed for the "Downtown" sector.  As anyone who has played a previous alpha can tell you: Peace Island landing is THE area in which even higher-end machines might bog down.  There remains only one more building, and once this sector is finalized & baked (hopefully, within 2-3 weeks,) there will be far fewer of these laggy issues.

3:  The first NPCs have been brought into the game world, using the new universal system.  Seeing the geese actually walking instead of "ice skating" was quite gratifying.  We will be re-integrating the Crow, next.

We have unfortunately been encountering crashing issues in builds over the past few weeks - but as we are not due to release he last alpha for at least another 1.5 months, I doubt that will be a problem for long.

So- we released a Press Kit.  We've been meaning to do this for a while, but I've put it off for months, because I REALLY wanted to release a new Trailer for Peace Island concurrently.

Unfortunately, even under the most ideal conditions, it would be highly unlikely if we were able to put such a trailer together within the next two to three months - and I felt it was important to address a few issues.  So, we went ahead and released it early - you can download and read it, here!

The impetus behind releasing this report was the realization that there were still dozens of circulating articles and blog posts about Peace Island, reporting that the game was due to be released in 2019/2020.

We felt it was important to provide a more truthful counter-narrative.  Understand: when these articles were published, the game had only been under development for 21 months by two people who worked on it in their spare time outside of full-time jobs.

It has been only for the past two years that Peace Island has had the manpower & funding required to bring such an ambitious project to life.  We consider it doubtful that even a "Triple-A" studio - with all of their billions of dollars and their armies of developers - could have produced a game like Peace Island in such a short time.

We also felt it was important to state clearly: "WE ARE NOT 'STAR CITIZEN' WITH CATS."

We have always been 100% transparent with our supporters, and with the public:

Development of Peace Island is a long journey, and we have never anticipated that any of our patrons would be with us the entire way.  That is why we consider our relationship with former patrons to be every bit as important as our relationship with current patrons:

There are patrons who gave five dollars to the project over a year ago, who still get alerts of new alphas.  People who gave enough for name placement within the game two years ago maintain their rewards & premiums, even if they cancel their support after that level of contribution - and of course, we're not going out and demanding postcard or print premiums be returned :)

And we can NEVER say it enough:

All of this could never have happened, had it not been for the support, confidence and patience of ALL of our supporters, past and present.  We are closer than we have ever been to those goals we imagined on that wintry afternoon in November, 2017 - and we have YOU to thank for that!

See Ya'll next week!

Thanks! We're working on that promo video - it will take a bit, but the wait will hopefully be worth it!

Thanks so much for your support, and the kind words. Sometimes, when I do these updates, I know there are a lot of people who are really hoping that we are releasing a new alpha, or perhaps the final beta, and I feel kinda bad sometimes, bearing only words. But - it feels good to know that these mere words are appreciated.

I love reading every update, and this one was great! I look forward to sitting down and reading the press kit, it looks very professional and well designed 😺

Been following this project since sometime in 2019, and I enjoy seeing these newsletters show up in my email <3 This game is such a labor of love and I am excited to follow the game all the way to the official release!
