Over the past few weeks, a heck of a lot of sites did articles about Peace Island. I sincerely believe I have only seen about 10% of them.
Some of these sites have taken it upon themselves to invent information about the project, to fill column inches - such as describing it as "GTA with cats."
That having been said, it is especially gratifying when one of these sites actually bothers communicating with us, before writing such an article.
The Model American did so, and asked some very good questions. Give it a read, if you are so inclined. You'll get some exclusive info in the article, such as the cat in my own life who was most instrumental in the development of Peace Island.
Now- we need to talk about new requests for pet memorials within Peace Island...
We have gotten probably about fifty requests from people offering LOTS of money to have their departed pets featured in a certain location on Peace Island.
Laura and I have both lost pets in our lives, and we believe genuinely that the people who are requesting this premium are doing so from a place of love.
But unfortunately, we cannot include any more such memorials.
Primarily, because we would have to quadruple the size of said location, to accommodate all such requests. If I made such a premium available to the general public, that location with be twice the size of the entire island, within one week.
Second- understand:
THIS PREMIUM WAS EXCLUSIVE TO KICKSTARTER.
These 345 people decided to put their trust in a line cook and a social worker who wanted to make a different kind of game, back when all we had was a story, a cat model, five animations and a painstakingly-built game world.
One week before Peace Island caught fire on social media, I went to all of these good supporters, told them that our 18-month effort and meager budget had come up short...
I told them we faced yet another delay, in Beta release.
I told them that it would take at least another three months for Laura and I to cobble together the roughest "Beta," which at that time, looked like it would have to be VERY primitive.
I told them that despite the fact that I had to tell my line cook boss to bump me up to 45 hours a week, I would continue working on the beta, for as long as it took - even if I had to go back to working on it just an hour or two a day.
I then offered every one of those who contributed a full refund of their money, minus the cost of premiums thus far sent.
Not a one of them asked for a refund. The general response was "We support you, for however long it takes."
We value each and every one of our supporters on Patreon, as if they were family.
However, understand that our Kickstarter supporters allowed us to build that early fragile concept into the phenomenon that Peace Island has become, and didn't abandon us, at our absolute darkest hour.
That is why we kept this premium exclusive to them.
We hope you understand.
We'll talk again, Thursday.
