Rollin' Rollin' Rollin, though the streams are swollen...

As I have oft stated here, the strangest, yet most wonderful transition Peace Island has taken as a project has been the transformation it has undergone over the past year.
This time last year, it was only myself, Laura, and the few temporary freelancers we could bring on whenever our savings allowed.
Now, we seem to be growing each week as we seek to concentrate responsibility and duties. Just this week, we brought on a specialist to look into improving our Inverse Kinematics (ensuring far more natural movement for both cats and NPCs,) and another guy to fully develop the Peace Island website.

I once was sorta upset that most of my time was now spent in a managerial role, rather than hands-on, but these days, I ain't got TIME to be upset, because there's more than enough to keep me busy.

Let me give you a run-down of what we've got going on:
1- We're about halfway done with the process of "Baking" all static objects - a process that will radically reduce draw calls, and further improve performance, cross-platform.
2- We've started adding PROPER MENUS and UI, meaning that you will be able to "ESC to exit," adjust audio/music levels, view an in-game world map - and a LOT more!
3- Aside from improving player movement and IK, we're also creating contextual icons for player interaction with objects, meaning that your journey through the world will be a LOT more intuitive!
4- Thursday, we'll receive the first drafts of the elements that will make up the new, procedurally-generated soundtrack! I am ESPECIALLY excited about this...
5- We're continuing to improve in-game materials and textures, meaning that going forward, you can expect the structures and props within the game world to take on a lot more of the weathered charm that is unique to Maine.
6- Development of our AI continues. Check out this neat video where you can see how our geese think and react, in real-time!
7- Interiors, interiors, interiors... Laura has been burning the midnight oil, on those.

There's a LOT more going on - I'd love to tell ya'll about it in detail, but as before: I've miles to walk, afore I sleep.
SEE YOU NEXT WEEK - AND AS ALWAYS:
